So true.  O'bama wasn't kidding when he said he wanted to ""fundamentally transform " America.  We are seeing this play out today in Obama's 3rd term.  peace_5

But back in our history, those with a collective LIBERAL ideology got together and called themselves Republicans, while those with a collective CONSERVATIVE ideology (attracting bigots and racists) called themselves Democrats.  Over time, and for a few reasons, the conservatives migrated to the republican party and the liberals migrated to the Democrat party -- which stands today.   In effect, the switched parties. While it is technically true to say the Democrats were instrumental in starting the KKK, it is also true - and far more importantly than a mere name - that the ideology of those starting the KKK were in fact CONSERVATIVES (ie, with a very large proportion of bigots and disgusting racists -- just like today) You are spot on Fubah. These idiots trying to push this Southern Democrats are today's modern Democratic Party that started the KKK do not even realize that Northern Democrats fought against Southern Democrats to preserve the union and eliminate the confederacy in the Civil War. They only bring up Southern Democrats to try to push a fake narrative, intentionally leaving out the part that Northern Democrats fought against slavery and injustice that the South tried to protect. So technically the divided Democrats from 175 years ago fought both for and against slavery, and hate groups like the KKK, depending on what region you were in (North Democrats v. South Democrats). Shows how truly uneducated these people really are. Just run with whatever they hear on the web or social media.

OMG that isn't what either Jarrett or I said. Its truly insane the world you live in. You read what you want to read. You hear what you want to hear. Its like we live in two different realities. That is inherently the problem with discourse today. Then if you don't like what people are saying you call them a bigot or racist as if that solves a god damn thing. If you can't come to grips with the foundation of your party and understand its roots weren't exactly very one love and equality, I don't know what to tell you anymore.

I mean c’mon , there’s a time and a place for partying , like the bars or the clubs during the weekend nightlife , but not here in the covers.com politics forum . Keep that stuff out of here . The booze . The women . The China white . It’s not necessary . You reading this stuff sober or what ? Not trying to be a dick here , but I’m noticing that there is a whole bunch of crossed signals going on , and an inordinate amount of miscommunication that is rearing it’s ugly head . It has to stop . Let’s get it together . Let’s lay off the sauce and the recreational feel good flattery and let’s focus in like Nolan Ryan when he’s got 2 strikes on the batter peace_5

Exactly right.   Tim Scott is a perfect example of this playing out in front of us today (right Barack O'bama ?? ) .

And it's also bitterly ironic that Trump helped bring down unemployment for blacks and minorities to record lows during his presidency.  But never mind that, right lefties ? You would rather just pretend it not to be true and carry on w/ your narrative that Trump is a racist..

Under Biden administration, black unemployment rate fell from 16.8% to 5% in March 2023 according to Bureau of labor statistics.  This is the lowest rate on record and even lower than during Trump administration.  A testament to US economic recovery after the pandemic.

They only bring up Southern Democrats to try to push a fake narrative, intentionally leaving out the part that Northern Democrats fought against slavery and injustice that the South tried to protect. Then if you don't like what people are saying you call them a bigot or racist as if that solves a god damn thing. If you can't come to grips with the foundation of your party and understand its roots weren't exactly very one love and equality, I don't know what to tell you anymore.

Don't play dumb, or maybe you are not playing. You and Jarrett were trying to imply that somehow Southern Democrats from 175 years ago in Southern ruby red states were somehow the same as Democrats today. @thirdperson

But it was the 2017 tax cuts that ushered in all kinds of benefits for the people, particularly for lower- income and minority folks.. I already posted this earlier, perhaps in another thread..   but i know you " overlooked" that..

BTW, these tax cuts are still in place, so should we find it surprising if the data continues in the same direction,  despite a different president  ?  What's "disingenuous " is that your party is actually looking to roll back these benefits on the people, when the program expires in a couple years.

*Your homework assignment is to find just a handful of Democrats in Congress that want to extend these tax cuts.. ( do I need to remind you again that "no" democratic supported the 2017 legislation)

    Excuse me with the namecalling.

However, you are 100% incorrect. Every post you respond with shows how truly uneducated you are. The Democratic Party of the 1800s is not the Democratic Party of today in any way. Not in representation, ideology, values. Nothing. The fact you do not know the parties switched names and ideologies 100 years ago shows what a failure the American school system is. an_lightI can only suggest you read books instead of Twitter. peace_5

That is the problem Wall it's not even a debate. The guy isn't even debating what Garrett and I brought to his attention. It's ridiculous. Just highlights the problem when dealing with people like him. It's why I left my lobbying job in DC. You literally can't intelligently debate a topic with someone when they are not even in the same universe as you. This guy wouldn't even agree that the sky is blue on a clear day. He likely would say its many colors of the rainbow. While I have known you for a long time and I respect you please don't say what this guy is doing is a debate as its insulting.

Hard to know what the rules are around here.

Guy gets called out for spewing BS and arguing selective history, trying to antagonize, then goes off on a namecalling tirade.

But seems perfectly fine in these parts. an_light

    Question for you Jerson.

Since you claim the Democratic Party is the party of the KKK, who is the political party of the KKK today?

Here is a hint. It is not the Democratic Party today. an_light

It is not the Democratic Party today. an_light

Again not even representing what we said. We said that the Democratic party has its roots in the KKK. For the love of God actually report what we said accurately. Not your CNN version of events. But for the record I am certain most members of the KKK probably are independent and don't associate with any party if I had to guess. Most Republicans don't associate with an organization like that either believe it or not.

While it is technically true to say the Democrats were instrumental in starting the KKK, it is also true - and far more importantly than a mere name - that the ideology of those starting the KKK were in fact CONSERVATIVES (ie, with a very large proportion of bigots and disgusting racists -- just like today)I can't tell you how many republican bedwetters I've told this to over the years. They all had that tilted head puzzled dog look on their faces.

I blame the school system and culture. They simply do not know U.S. history or selectively retain certain information to push absurd narratives. I have actually heard Ted Cruz push this same narrative numerous times that the Democrats are the party of the KKK. It's disturbing. These are the same kinds of people that wave confederate flags and claim they are American Patriots. It's actually baffling. an_light

Since they removed the study of Civics from public schools about 50 years ago, it's been downhill from there. And don't even get me started on history, which the MAGA's are trying to erase.

I don't know what this we is, but it definitely isn't what Jarrett is pushing. What I said is that Today's Democratic Party does not have roots in the KKK. This is what you and Jarrett are arguing against, which is nonsensical. Your statement completely ignores the fact that the 1850s Southern Democrats do not represent the same political party (Democratic) that they did 175 years ago. It's just NOT the same party in any way. I guess you think because it was called the same thing means it's the same party. This reflects how little you know about American history. That is my point. Selective history. an_light

    @jesron1269

The common perception of a "lobbyist" is they only serve special interests.

Did you represent an industry or a specific company or a non-profit organization?

Seems to me that Deezy has totally frustrated you. Is that what hapenned to you in DC?
