Proof Hate Speech Is More Viral on Elon Musk’s Twitter
Researchers monitoring a “firehose” of public tweets found signs of increasing toxicity— even before Elon Musk reversed bans on hate-mongers like Trump and other divisive figures.
Researchers at Tufts University’s Digital Planet group tracked hate speech on Twitter before and after Musk took ownership of the company in late October. For the months prior to Musk’s takeover, the researchers deemed just one tweet out of the three top 20 lists to be actually hateful, in this case against Jewish people. In the weeks AFTER Musk took over Twitter, the same analysis found that hateful tweets became much more prominent among the most popular tweets with potentially toxic language. For tweets using words associated with anti-LGBTQ+ or antisemitic posts, 7 of the top 20 posts in each category were now hateful. “The toxicity of Twitter has severely increased post-Elon Musk walking into that building,” says Bhaskar Chakravorti, dean of global business at the Fletcher Business School at Tufts University, which carried out the analysis.

In holocaust remembrance week, Germany sues Musk for allowing anti-semitic hate speech on Twitter. Center for countering digital hate found that 84% of hate speech isn't removed as twitter fails to enforce its own content moderation policies. In December, a German official who won a defamation lawsuit against Twitter dedicates his legal victory to doctor Fauci.

Twitter has banned holocaust denier Nick Fuentos again after allowing him to return a day earlier. In 2022, Trump dined with Fuentos and other bigots at Mar-a-lago. Recently a bipartisan group of House lawmakers introduce a bill requiring holocaust education in public schools to combat ignorance and intolerance. Currently, most schools don't teach students about the holocaust amid a rise in anti-semitism in the US.

Not sure why Musk's Twitter banned Fuentos, did not Musk support "freedom of speech" from the get go after he took over the Twitter. Perhaps, pressure from the general public has reached a critical point he has to abstain it.

@Europa
From what I gather, the day after Musk decided to reinstate accounts that were previously banned for racism - on the theory that every accused Racistphcker supposedly deserves a second chance - guess what? ......he immediately went on another racist rant so disgusting that Twitter banned his anti-semetic-ass again. Musk did say he would only ban accounts that violated laws..... and "hate speech" is not protected speech in America, much to the chagrin of millions of MAGA extremists all around the nation who felt vindicated and emboldened after trump lucked his way into the WH despite losing the national popular vote to Hillary.
