Netanyahu says the conflict with the Palestinians, including the fate of the settlements, must be resolved through direct negotiations and says that international dictates undermine the negotiating process.

Despite the Israeli anger, Netanyahu ordered a Jerusalem planning committee to delay a vote on approving construction of some 500 new homes in Jewish developments of east Jerusalem, a city councilman said. Council member Hanan Rubin told The Associated Press that Netanyahu asked to delay Wednesday's vote so as not to antagonize relations with the U.S.

Meanwhile, a senior leader of the West Bank settlement movement called Kerry a "stain on American foreign policy" and "ignorant of the issues." Oded Revivi, chief foreign envoy of the Yesha Council, said Kerry is "the worst secretary of state in history," who "chose to stab his closest ally in the back" and knows little about the realities of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

if a multi nation wishes to convene so be it but it should exclude any government that denies Israel nation and those practicing the faith  of Hebrews the right to exist.

This Should be the standard to allow to participate. Egypt and Israel have agreed to this, Syria has not nor has Iraq , Iran , or others.

I am trying to understand the reasoning of the rush to peace at the UN level. The united nations has been useless in the middle east mess for decades. The old money here can be seen as new money their as most at the in has title. Princess of this country duke or that other country, the esteemed honarble blah blah of that region ect ect.

Switzerland is the true seat of world monetary Power not New York if this is far as read so be it.

Trump states he will negotiate peace in the middle east and these in diplomats are beyond reason easily offended.

seems as Reagun came into office and stated I am not afraid of the Iranians and then last minute negotiations of our diplomatic families in Terhan came to a conclusion due to the extreme position Washington was delivering at the time.

Hostages were freed days Before Reagun took commander in chief.

this seems after Trumped mocked the UN over tweeter. That the UN is in a huge rush to close a deal of its own work before the outsiders Putin and Trump align to make a deal with in themselves and Israeli interests.

lets see how this last minute cigar room goes in Paris cause they have a tight clock to keep..... 22 days and a wake up Washington pivots ultra new money interests.....

Typical UN b.s. 475,000 dead in 5-year old Syrian civil war, ISIS committing the most heinous acts seen in hundreds of years and Israel's settlements are a bigger problem. I hope Trump can "motivate" the UN to do something really useful instead of burning about $8B in US funding annually...

    Why?

Israel causes many of their own problems, I dont agree with blind support of them as they do plenty which goes against the US and what we feel is appropriate.

In the history of this planet, that area has never been peaceful and I dont think it ever will.

Bowing down to Israel is a mistake, it is not as simple as many are suggesting in this thread.

Israel does not deserve the area any more than the others also there.

Not sure where this last minute negotiation is heading.

but anything new is at least good news, Have yet to see

anything but a war of words reported through the press

but this 70 nation resolution stance is as close to a world agreement

on the issue OF PEACE in the Middle East.

the negotiations are now on going in Paris with the worlds participating in this It will be interesting if the becomes

    The signature to Obamas Legacy.

Kerry and Obama in the last throes of power has been a beautiful thing to watch.  Ego's that big always die hard. Same will be true when the Trump era is over.

As for Mideast Peace. It will never be. Ever. Period. Full stop.

Israel is immensely more civilized then their arab counterparts obviously, but they are human as well in their quest for control and power. And some of those Israeli hardliners are insane.

I'll always side with civilization though over the animal kingdom.

And frankly I think Israel as a whole has been quite restrained considering what they have to deal with.

    USS Liberty attack

On June 8th, 1965, during the Six-Day War, Israel attacked and nearly sank the USS Liberty belonging to its closest ally, the USA. Thirty-four American servicemen were killed and over 170 wounded in the two-hour assault by Israeli warplanes and torpedo boats.

Israel claimed that the whole affair had been a tragic accident based on mistaken identification of the ship. The American government accepted the explanation. For more than 30 years many people have disbelieved the official explanation but have been unable to rebut it convincingly.

After surveilling USS Liberty for more than nine hours with almost hourly aircraft overflights and radar tracking, the air and naval forces of Israel attacked our ship in international waters without warning. USS Liberty was identified as a US naval ship by Israeli reconnaissance aircraft nine hours before the attack and continuously tracked by Israeli radar and aircraft thereafter. Sailing in international waters at less than five knots, with no offensive armament, our ship was not a military threat to anyone.

The Israeli forces attacked without warning and without attempting to contact us. Thirty four Americans were killed in the attack and another 174 were wounded. The ship, a $40-million dollar state-of-the-art signals intelligence platform, was later declared unsalvageable and sold for scrap.

    was this a mistake ?
    or
Israel was trying to get the US involved

after Israel was given to the Hebrews by the UN it was a vicious battle
to remain in control of the area. The region was conquered and reconquered since before Biblical times as the first four books were drafted by Moses.
as it significance for the overland route for Egypt to anywhere north and west of Africa. The Hebrew nation has been hunted throughout Europe for near 15 centuries and has survived.

when the Nazis decided to exterminate the race was their plan to completely rewrite history after conquest. Thus in an Orwellian style dictate the future by resetting the past.

the six day war, within Johnson's administration context the Israeli  fought a war from four fronts and a naval blockade Jordan , Syria, Egypt Israel took the west bank. and the sinia  penisula. We did not directly support them in any way. We were hip deep in blood and mud in Vietnam and esculating but we were not directly doing anything to support Israel

Isaeli air force were an adhock assembly of jets they bought from countries and companies eager to sell the equipment including the fr mirage 111 able to obtain speeds of mark 2 . They gave back the penisula to egypt when sadt signed a peace treaty with Israel and reconized them as a soverign nation, the west bank however was not returned and Israel can and has kept this by right of conquest.

regardless I realize Obama "legacy" is he was the first African -American president. most everything else will be repealed with in the first 100 days.
If this last ditch effort by the administration History will entirely erase his foreign policy failure to a Foreign policy triumph. so under the Iranian deal contexts this paris summit has an ability to lay a framework to peace. But without syrias assad jordans hussain the plo and Isael agreeing to the terms...and flaming sparkles of sunshine will come flying out my a$$ smelling like roses and lemon drops first in my opinion... the world wants but it wont get.

Whatever one thinks, on this issue, the truth is this:

Where ever there are muslims living......A certain percentage will want to kill all of the Christians and person as well as the other world religions ....This is what they are taught from their earliest age...KILL THE INFIDEL....

Whether in Germany, France, Sweden, the US or Israel, or where ever, they have one long range goal...KILL the non-believer...

How do you make peace with muslims that are out to kill you?

    Me thinks you don't....It's impossible.

If you look at Muslim countries as a whole, northern Africa to Pakistan, and you look at Christian countries as a whole North and South America to Ukraine. finally atheist countries Russia , China, and N Korea.

    Muslim Countries currently practice slavery.

    Chinese mandates abortion .

Anyone who is not blind can see a colossal difference so which countries did The god of most High actually bless? it is a real stumper.

What does the OT say over and over and over...they killed millions of people that were "infidels" the same way you are suggesting about Muslims. I dont see much difference at all comparing the two groups.

You are quoting extremists...there are extremists in every religion, it is not as clear cut as you are suggesting.

It's obvious only to semi-intelligent people. Morons don't understand that it's a "complete submission" or death proposition. "Islam" definition is "to submit"... Don't try to educate the moron that believes their will ever be peace from this religion... Everywhere they mass they want to take over, it's who they are. Luckily, we got a president that now understands this instead of one that is on their side.

So how many Muslims do you know and how much have you investigated their doctrines and beliefs?

I know MANY and you are quite the extremist yourself and you are incorrect in such an absurd and sweeping generality.

One thing is for sure, many people erroneously think as you do and that is how a total putz like Trump could even sniff a presidential election let alone win.

Israel doesn't want a two-state solution.  Look, I'm Jewish and I'm telling you that what they're doing is wrong.  They've marginalized the Palestinians who have a corrupt government that doesn't represent the people.  You have teenagers fighting in the street, along with a teenage doctor patching them up because they have no hope at getting out of poverty, receiving a real education and getting a decent job.  You can watch Vice's documentation in one of their episodes that did a great job of explaining the details.

Also, my friend pointed out that you have to consider Hamas is firing at Israel, which prompts them to fire back with a stronger response, but the average citizen doesn't even know that and perceives it as Israel bullying the region.

There isn't an easy answer to the problem.  However, allowing Israel to continue building settlements isn't the solution.  That'll only prompt terrorist groups to start thinking about increasing their attacks and maybe getting some to join those groups.

    Pretty good analysis.

I can say having been to the West Bank that the majority of settlers don't care and only want peace between each other and their families.

As is often the case, this is less about religion and more about money. Without having 1/2 of Jerusalem, the Palestinians have almost no income. The Holy Land is Holy in actuality but also in the wallet.

america was a good ally to israel for awhile. until israeli interests and money ran out.

    money talks. bs walks.

just another way to ask israel to pay up.

follow the money. the saudis and the bushes have been in bed since the 80s. they didnt wanna reveal themselves until 2001 when junior took office. after that all hell broke loose.

dictator after dictator died (libya/iraq) and the saudis are now planting seeds in every country so they don't have to worry about their own azzez.

yes. the saudis are responsible. they have all the money. when it runs out though, the next highest bidder will be USAs best ally.

there are a bunch of countries paying 40 to 400,000,000 a month for surveillance of their own citizens. take a long look at that.

u can google saudi family and bush. theyre the best!

Personal Attack? That is preposterous.  FYI There will be zero grey area if I launch a personal attack. Condescension? Yes.

My post most definitely adds to this discussion. I"m sorry if you can't take the heat, maybe you should improve at defending your positions rather than crying wolf about a personal attack.

Since we started walking on 2 feet, we've had control over who we let into our communities. The stipulations back then are still very similar to now.  Shared values, and no threat the safety and welfare of the community.

You should know well enough by now that open borders and lax immigration enforcement only benefits politicians, churches and business.  These aforementioned groups thrive off of the delusion and false idea that its all about compassion. They thrive off of your feelings. Pure manipulation. When you start incorporating feelings into policy you will get disaster eventually. You know this too.

And if you had a family member who was victimized by some of these groups I guarantee that do-good feeling inside would go away in a hurry. I'm sure such a high-minded individual as yourself vehemently disagrees with that though right?

You think racism got Trump elected?  You're dead wrong l if you think that.

And considering my track record of being right waaaay more than wrong in here, versus your record of reliably wrong the last couple years, you should pay close attention to this next sentence.

It was liberals calling everyone who disagrees with them racist that got Trump elected.

    Deoplorable anybody?
