Missile Strike Kills Iranian General Solemani

It is just now being reported by Defense One that 11 US troops were medevaced immediately after the Iranian missile strikes for "concussion" type injuries.

I don't recall this being reported by the Trump administration & the last I remember is Trump saying "all is well" & "assessments of damage and casualties were underway.

I've never heard of Defense One but they are an online news site that reports primarily on matters of national defense & security per mediabiasfactcheck.com. 

I understand Trump doesn't like soldiers who have been injured but it would be great to get an update on these soldiers. Have they been returned to duty? Have they been sent home?

In any event, they need to be kept in our prayers.

Pentagon spokes person says a total of 34 service members have been diagnosed with concussions after the Iranian missile strikes -- much higher than initial reports of 11.

It's hard to believe anything said by this administration.

I actually remember you saying something along the lines at least he's getting something unlike Obama.

Just saw a report that our embassy in Baghdad has been directly hit by 3 of the 5 missiles fired.

The US is calling on the government of Iraq "to fulfill its obligations to protect our diplomatic facilities," the State Department spokesperson said. The department noted that it will not comment further on the security situation in Baghdad and did not address whether any employees were injured.

According to Iranian State TV, the attacks were in revenge for the killing of the commander of Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guards, General Qasem Soleimani, in a US drone strike on Friday, which was ordered by President Donald Trump.

While the Iranian State television claimed that “at least 80 terrorist US soldiers” were killed in the strikes, the Pentagon said it is working on initial battle damage assessments. Some 5,000 US soldiers are in Iraq as part of the international coalition against the IS terror group.

A top U.S. commander said Monday that mortars were used in an attack on the American embassy in Baghdad that injured one person and caused some material damage the previous night, not katyusha rockets as was initially reported by staffers and a statement from the military.

Gen. Frank McKenzie, a top U.S. commander for the Middle East, told reporters traveling with him that the mortar attack started a fire that was put out. He said no U.S. military personnel were injured, but one U.S. national had a minor injury but returned to work.

Two staff members at the embassy, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media, said initially that rockets slammed into a restaurant inside the American compound late Sunday. A military statement had said five rockets hit inside Baghdad's Green Zone, where the embassy sits.

In a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed “outrage” and blamed the attack on “Iran's armed groups,” according to a statement from State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagusand. Pompeo said the attack was an attempt to divert attention from the suppression of anti-government protesters in Iraq, the statement added.

The Pentagon now announces that 50 troops suffered brain injuries in the missile attack.

Evidently these injuries are not readily apparent immediately after the injury takes place.

I'ts hard to give this administration the benefit of the doubt.
