Romney carried 6% of the black vote in 2012... what's a realistic goal in the upcoming 2016 election...15- 18% ?  That would be the maximum they could hope for in my opinion, just simply because the black vote has, is and always will support the Democratic nominee...  The additional 10% that the Rubublicans can pick up in 2016, I feel will be solely on the fact that they will admit, that not only are they no better off since Obama has been in office, but worse off...

but I disagree....  base on the history and the current party, GOPs can and should improve their race image...

and simply marching out an african american candidate to do the exact same agenda is poor strategy in my opinion...

The attitude that the GOP does not need to evolve or improve is silly to me...  If that is the attitude of the party, why would we choose that type of attitude to lead the nation?  do not seem like good leadership to refuse to believe that they need to improve....

If GOP think african americans vote purely on free junk as they have been conditioned to believe that is how minorities vote, than they would never win over minority voters...

It is actually this type of thinking, scapegoating, and angry rhetoric that turns off minority voters...  the solution is to stop that type of campaigning and "Repubkicans talk" to its own base to make itself fell okay...

and instead create a platform that is not based on telling you why dems hate you, but instead what exactly is it that the GOP is doing for the common person and not the rich...  and what the GOP is doing not to help minorities, but admit the mistakes in the past and show they are not doing those things any more... the GOP needs to approach the people with honesty about their past and rather then giving minorities and easier path like with affirmative action, they need to create a fair one...

meaning drop the obsession with voter ID for starters....

but this would involve a party that is willing to improve and evolve for the betterment of itself and the nation...  and I am not sure the party and its base is up to the challenge....

At least it does not appear so

It is not a race image to me.  Maybe a message for ALL that have the Democratic mindset; do not think it has to be race so much.  A lot of white voters don't vote republican for the same reasons.

IDs have nothing to do with it--more Left nonsense.  All blacks (old, young, poor, etc.) I know all have IDs.

There are not any good examples of what they are doing not to help minorities any more than anyone else.  All race baiting stirred up bt Left to me.

Maybe GOP needs to evolve---but not evolve into the Democratic party---just to get more of a certain group to vote for them.  They should simply do better getting their message out and explaining why it works for ALL people.  As opposed to the Left, which hasn't done a lot for them for decades.  That is something that maybe the Black Republicans and the Young  Republicans should help get out.  Slow process...but it does seem to be changing somewhat.

Instead of helping Blacks get going, Democrats have just sent out the message that republicans hate them, and will not help them, etc. Then given them enough free junk to keep them under their thumb.

I will say that it would help to have more successful Black GOP role models to help spread the word.  The issue is actually bigger to me with other groups of people, Latinos, young people, unmarried women, etc.  The young are more easily duped or whatever you want to call it.  They want to be seen as enightened, etc.  Look at how many people voted for Obama just to be voting for the first Black President.  If the Republican had presented a Black candidate instead of the Democrats, I am sure they would have garnered a bit more support from Blacks.

I always laugh when liberals say Republicans will never win an election because of ___.

Liberals don't want Republicans to win elections so that comment has no credibility.

Usually, that comment from liberals has something to do with the immigration issue, as if Republicans allow millions of illegals to come into the country they are going to vote Republican.

no, republicans allow millions of illegals to come into the country so they can hire them and pay them much less than they'd have to pay american citizens.

Assinine as usual. Is Tim Scott not black? Which party nominated a black justice to the SC?

Do all 11 or more like 25 million have to self deport?? Would a couple million leaving not have a huge impact? Are you remotely aware that each and every illegal creates a $10,000 annual net loss for the US? Didn't think so. Are you willing to house/feed/educate them?? Didn't think so.

Right, because there is no corporate cronyism in the Dem Party.
The 1% has thrived under obama, the middle class has died. Soros uses obama as his mannequin dummy. Mult-millionaires/Bnaires in sports and Hollywood largely D, the party of the little guy.......

not sure what all this is about and it seems to get less coherent as it goes on, but a proper discussion of the immigration issue clearly shows that neither party is interested in solving it.

Caught on Camera: Obama Called Exec Immigration Action Illegal… 25 Times!

For years, he has called such action illegal; in fact, “The Kelly File” found 25 instances in which Obama said so on camera.

“Today we know he’s about to do the very thing he said would flout the law, the very thing he said would be ‘very difficult to defend legally.’ And his defenders say, ‘Well he misunderstood the law.’ For six years?” Megyn Kelly questioned.

Watch the video above to see what Obama said for yourself.

i have no problem with immigrants but there are appropriate laws that should be followed.

however, since those laws have been ignored for so long, the immigration situation is very complicated.
