WOW...FEMA confirms NY has requested emergency mortuary assistance because they are reaching capacity.
Maybe this also happened during Katrina but I've never heard of a request like this. I shouldn't be surprised because they had similar problems in China & Italy but I still am surprised.

My father in law was part owner in a funeral parlor until the 80's when he sold his part. He was responsible for dressing and applying makeup & fixing hair based on a picture the family of the deceased would provide. He told me preparing children was the worst & regularly cried when he did his work.
He saw so many dead and dismembered soldiers during the war, he became absolutely immune to the horror. He would stand quietly in the funeral home as family members and friends would pay their last respects for the deceased. He stood their stoically never batting an eye or making eye contact with those in attendance which I always thought was cold but that is how he handled the emotion of death.
Almost immediately after marrying his daughter, he impressed upon me the importance of purchasing burial plots because no one was promised of a tomorrow. I told him yeah, yeah I'll take care of it but never did. At a Thanksgiving dinner, he brought the subject up again nearly 10 years later & asked if I purchased what he requested. I gave him a bunch of bullshit answers as to why I hadn't & he waved me off only to hand me 2 envelopes both containing a burial plot for my wife and I. He made me promise we would use them & I laughingly told him I didn't think I would have a choice.
Our kids won't have to worry about this situation because we have all the arrangements made for our burial. We will be buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MI. The son of my father in law's partner now runs the business & each summer we visit with him and his family while attending a minor league baseball game. We have arranged for a "celebration" dinner for all those attending our services.
I'm sharing this story so that you don't make the mistake of putting off what I did. Losing a loved one is a horrible experience and having them deal with all the burial arrangements will just add to their stress. Many are dying in our country and families will soon be faced with burden. You can make a big difference now by attaining a burial plot unless of course you plan on cremation.
My point is people will be dying that are unprepared & for the sake of your families, now is a great time to get prepared.

People in Florida cannot file for unemployment online because the state's website isn't handling the volume of new requests. Phone calls to the agency go immediately to a busy signal causing additional frustration. Hope other states are not experiencing a similar situation.
The unemployment number in the country comes out tomorrow.

Proud of my governor for using common sense.My little county of roughly 45000 in the middle of PA has had no confirmed cases yet. But I'm guessing that less than 300 have been tested so far. It amazes me that their haven't been cases though as the blatant disregard of the trumpers here all feel invincible and believe the nitwit in the WH.
