For months, Trump has been downplaying severity of the pandemic.  Now he claims to be doing a very good job if 100,000 to 200,000 Americans die from coronavirus.  Last week, Trump accuses governors of asking for ventilators they don't need.  Now he denies questioning the need for ventilators.  Despite no evidence, Trump falsely accuses healthcare workers of stealing medical supplies in outrageous conspiracy theory.  When journalists ask tough questions, he insults them in press briefings.  But they are only doing their legal duty to hold government accountable. 

His campaign team threatens to sue newspapers and television stations over ads or articles that are critical of the president.  Trump is afraid of the truth which he calls fake news and resorts to intimidation tactics.  However US constitution ensures freedom of the press to protect the right of Americans to learn the truth about government.  According to Center for public integrity, Trump administration loses vast majority of lawsuits in government.  Unlike past administrations that normally win most lawsuits.

For years, Trump administration has policies that worsen impact of pandemic.  First, weakening of environmental protection makes pandemics more likely.  When wildlife habitats are destroyed, pathogens find new habitats in humans.   Secondly, weakening of social safety net by budget cuts for public healthcare and food stamps.  Third, sabotage of obamacare takes away healthcare insurance from millions of Americans.   Fourth, increasing work requirements make welfare harder to obtain.  Fifth, dismantling pandemic response team of National security leads to loss of expertise and slower response to pandemic.   Sixth, coronavirus testing is not a priority for Trump obsessed with keeping disturbing numbers low before November election.  He didn't want a cruise ship to unload its infected passengers in the US. 

Seventh, tax code changes that  increase difficulty for businesses to recover from a recession.  Eighth, some medical supplies are scarce because of Trump's trade war against China.  Nineth, fewer healthcare workers because of discriminating immigration policies.  Tenth,  Trump refuses to accept responsibility for nationwide shortages.  Desperate states and cities hunt for ventilators and medical supplies without much help from white house.  US has the most coronavirus cases of any country in the world.  Much of the suffering and deaths are preventable if not for corruption and incompetence in government.
