Biden administration shipping 9 million vaccine doses to Africa and another 2 million worldwide
It follows President Biden’s announcement Thursday that the administration will send more than 200 million doses abroad in 100 days, accelerating delivery to high-risk countries.
“The President has been clear from the start: If we want to protect the American people and our economy, we must defeat the virus everywhere. That means we must ensure the rest of the world gets vaccinated. And under President Biden's leadership, the United States is leading the way.”
The Biden administration also will push international partners to take a stronger role in aiding in global vaccine efforts.

Dr. Anthony Fauci spoke at length this afternoon (carried live on CNN) about what must be done for the world to emerge out of the throes of the coronavirus pandemic. Fauci, the nation's leading infectious disease expert, discussed the "end game" to the pandemic, saying it would involve "a situation where viruses will not have the opportunity that they have right now is to essentially, freely distribute and freely circulate in society, both domestic society and global society." "The more protection you get with vaccines, the less likelihood a virus has to do that, the less likelihood a virus has to mutate, the less likely you're going to get a variant," Fauci said during a WH press briefing.
Logical. It's obvious that as long as the virus is spreading around the globe as we speak, it will mutate further, and then be even harder to eradicate and put this nighmare behind us.
We all want this to end, but clearly, wishing it away or prematurely declaring the pandemic over is folly.
Already there is growing evidence that those who gained natural immunity having survived the Alpha variant from 2020 are still vulnerable to Delta in 2021 and beyond. But the real danger is that as these variants keep spreading and mutating a strain will emerge that is fully resistance to both "natural immunity" and current vaccines.

Good points, Baish.
In a way it's like how insect pests become more and more immune to chemical insecticides, and stronger chemicals are needed. Then they adapt to those too.
Where does it all end? Certainly not with so called "immunity" from previous infections, because the virus adapts to that too.

Gas prices expected to drop below $3 a gallon soon, government forecasts
New York (CNN Business)Prices at the pump have finally started to creep lower, and that trend should significantly accelerate in the coming months, according to new government forecasts. The US Energy Information Administration said Tuesday the national average for regular gasoline will probably drop to $3.01 a gallon in January. For 2022, gas prices are expected to average $2.88. That call is based on projections by the EIA for global oil production to increase more quickly than demand next year — especially given the emergence of the Omicron variant. This would be a reversal of the past 18 months, when output has been slow to meet surging demand as the world reopens from Covid-19.

cut from cnn :: under president joe biden's administration jobless claims hit a new 52-year low! New York (CNN Business)Weekly claims for unemployment benefits dropped to a new, multi-decade low last week, the Labor Department reported Thursday.
Not since the Vietnam war have the jobless claims numbers been this low, and considering the population has increased significantly since, then comparatively these numbers are even better than the previous low.

Cindy McCain, the wife of the late Sen. John McCain, said President Trump was not invited to her husband’s funeral because she wanted to keep the ceremony “with dignity.”
President Biden has showed the dignity of institutional politics, but his predecessor wasn't capable to perform.

Glad to see those soldiers are getting the purple heart medals they deserve. I never understood why they didn't get them the first time.

Partnership for public service praises Biden administration move to trim governmental red tape and improve customer service. His executive order streamlines the process for social security or medicare benefits online, gives taxpayers the ability to schedule callbacks from IRS, and makes it simpler for survivors of disasters to apply for federal assistance. Most changes will start in the next few months.

Dec.13: New Executive Order
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden signed an executive order Monday aimed at rebuilding the public's trust in government by making it easier to do things like renew passports, apply for Social Security benefits and get aid after natural disasters.
The idea is to put the public and customer service at the center of federal operations, saving time, energy, frustration and potentially money by offering better and more efficient services for the millions of routine interactions people have with the government.
