New Biden rule could help 4 million white-collar workers
The Biden administration on Tuesday announced a new rule that would make millions of white-collar workers newly eligible for overtime pay.
Starting July 1, the rule would increase the threshold at which executive, administrative and professional employees are exempt from overtime pay to $43,888 from the current $35,568. That change would make an additional 1 million workers eligible to receive time-and-a-half wages for each hour they put in beyond a 40-hour week.

History’s most pro-union president delivers 2 more big wins for workers
DK - The Federal Trade Commission issued a new rule l ast Tuesday imposing a nationwide ban on noncompete agreements that prevent employees from quitting their jobs and going to work for “competitor” companies.
The rule doesn’t go into full effect for 120 days, but existing noncompetes are now unenforceable for most workers.
Also, the Department of Labor issued a new rule requiring mandatory overtime pay for an estimated 4 million salaried workers. Employees earning under $58,700 a year will now collect overtime when they work more than 40 hours a week.
Both rule changes illustrate how the Biden administration is constantly standing up for workers’ rights in ways that improve their ability to seek the best position and be fairly compensated for their labor.

The upcoming election between Biden and Baby Trump isn’t just about preserving democracy—though it definitely is about preserving democracy. It also represents the clearest battle between labor and corporate interests in decades. That’s why worker organizations like the UAW are passionate about their support of Biden.
And Biden lined up another big labor endorsement when North America’s Building Trades Union signed on!

NABTU President Sean McGarvey praised Biden then issued a warning about his opponent:
"[Trump’s] dark side is very, very dark and very, very dangerous for this country," McGarvey said. "We can't let our democracy that we've worked for and we've cherished just disintegrate with the wrong leader at the wrong time.”
When it comes to the president, McGarvey declared that Biden is "the most pro-union ... pro-worker president that this country has EVER seen.”

Americans’ pay gains rose faster than expected so far this year
CNN, April 30
A closely watched measure of labor costs showed that compensation growth accelerated much faster than expected during the first three months of the year
*No one saying this is perfection or FANTASTIC news but it is positive.

MSNBC reveals Biden administration plan to re-classify safety of marijuana as drug under Controlled substances act. Relaxing regulation is reasonable because many states have legalized marijuana for medical or recreational use.

Some more good news for many... In an ironic twist due to raising interest rates, Americans were paid an additional $235 billionin interest in 2023, thanks to the Fed!
truly ironic
and of course completely ignored by certain people

What's ironic about it? Would you like to try to explain WHY Americans are getting paid so much in interest? Who's on the other side of that trade? What is happening with the money Americans are depositing and WHO'S spending that deposit money? Where is that deposit money going? I know CA doesn't know where it's going with their homeless crisis.
The plan- Devalue the dollar, pay relatively small interest in the short term to depositors. Once the value of a dollar has been crushed, pay back debts with more debts.
Want to see a graph from Trump and Bidens terms? See below. It's ironic that Biden claims to have a great economy, but nobody wants to talk about the payments on the interest to CrEaTe ThIs gReAt EcOnOmy
You know who's not getting paid from the rising interest? Banks that went heavy on long dated bonds before intertest rates started to rise. Ya wonder why the FED is taking so long to raise rates?
I don't always claim to be wealthy, but when I do, I max out my credit cards and take on hard money loans.

White house reports that companies have announced $110 billion in clean energy investments to create 170,000 jobs in first year and over 1.5 million during next decade. Millions of seniors to save money because insulin is capped at $35 per month. In addition, billions of dollars for protection of communities against extreme weather. One billion tons less greenhouse gas emissions expected by 2030. Furthermore, families are projected to save $27-38 billion on electricity from 2022 to 2030.
15 million families to save average of $800 annually on healthcare insurance.
It would seem apparent that this is a net good for the country, but as usual ignored by a very large portion of the population, especially in southern and mid-western states for some inexplicable reason.....and oddly given that those states are collectively the least wealthy who could use financial help....

According to Bloomberg, Biden administration announces new $3.3 billion artificial intelligence facility by Microsoft subsidized by Infrastructure legislation. Years ago, Trump administration promised a electronics facility at same location. Instead Foxconn turned out to be a con job with nothing constructed. In contrast, Biden has succeeded where other presidents have failed.

"On Tuesday on Bloomberg tv and radio I predicted that Trump will win by winning every swing state. After tonight’s announcement by Biden to withhold arms to Israel that prediction is looking even stronger."
