I heard today that both Clinton and Obama lost approx 60 seats each in the house in their first midterms, while trump lost here only approx half of that...so was this blue wave just more fake news? Senate got stronger from what i hear too, as the few Repubs who stood up againat trump lost, thus all the red now is even more united before their leader.
As an observer, i would either claim this a stalement, more a slight Repub win...Dems cannot be happy this morning while they sip their 8$ starbucks chemical liquids

Dems should be happy yes, however relative to history, trump did better than both clinton and obama regarding #of seats lost in the house.

This election was nothing short of a massive repudiation of Trumpism. Dems did better in the House the GOP did in 10’ Or Dems did in 06’. Sure Dems will lose 3 - 4 Senate seats but that has more to do with the composition of the Senate giving disproportionate power to rural voters. Look at the real numbers here:
Senate Vote Totals
Democratic Party: 44.9 million votes
Republican Party: 32.9 million votes
That’s the story on the House side, as well. Democrats didn’t just take more seats, they took an enormously greater number of votes. Democrats carried both the House and the Senate with vote margins of greater than 9 percent. That’s bigger than the Republican “wave” elections in 2010, or even 1994. It’s a massive margin of victory. Massive.
If it doesn’t look that way from some of the end results, it’s simply because of structural issues. Small rural states, and small rural counties, have an outsized importance in a system that, as we often get reminded, isn’t a pure democracy, but a representative republic. At this point those rural areas are utterly wedded to the GOP. How strong is that attachment? So strong that a dead pimp easily captured a seat in the Nevada state assembly just by having an “R” next to his name. Really.
Democrats demonstrated last night that they can carry this nation by a huge margin. That’s a 12 million vote differential. Be assuaged that the majority of the Country is with the Democrats and now we have 2 years to ramp up all the forces at our disposal to defeat Trumpism once and for all.
