In the United States legal code, there are statutes that apply to flag etiquette, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the National Anthem. Currently, these statutes don’t include language that would make it a criminal offense to disobey the guidelines, but the rules are widely followed.
The U.S. Supreme Court in West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) ruled such laws were a violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. constitution. This ruling and others applies to not just the flag, but to the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance as well.
It may not be a criminal offense to disobey the guidelines, but the rules should be followed...that's why they say Code violators are not good people ..

Before Patriots quarterback Tom Brady led the Patriots to a comeback win
over the Texans, he stood for the national anthem with one arm
intertwined with wide receiver Phillip Dorsett and the other over his
heart.

The resettlement of 50,000 Syrian refugees in 2016 without proper screening.is a national security risk. Thousands of Hatian asylum seekers fleeing to the Quebec/New York State Border in 2017 after Trump proposed an end to protected status is another national security risk for Canada. Trudeau has welcome them all in with open arms. And here's some examples of terrorist attacks in Canada. Do me a favor next time Stu educate yourself before you spew your stupidity about something you know nothing about.
is Haiti a designated state sponsor of terrorism ?

No dummy but they are asylum seekers that crossed our borders illegally into Canada. It was the incompetent Obama administration that offered temporary protected status to more than 50,000 Haitians displaced by the 2010 earthquake and then extending it several times. These refugees are Trump's problem not Canada's and they should be either sent back to the States or deported back to Haiti..

Back in August, the NFL denied the Cowboys' request to wear a decal on their helmets during the season ,,,that would
have paid tribute to the five police officers killed a month earlier in an
ambush.
The reason .........it would have been too controversial....

President Barack Obama famously neglected to put his hand over his heart, while the anthem was being played..... during the 2008 election campaign..
He explained his mistake by saying
his grandfather taught him to do this only during the pledge, and to
only sing during the anthem.

I do not have,, that much of a problem with Americans not standing or even sitting during the National anthem....However they should always have their hand over their heart when it's playing..( esp. since it contains the words Land of the Free).
In fact ---(where is djbrow when you need him ?) if you don't have your hand over your heart during the playing of the National anthem you are violation of.... 36 U.S.Code 301 - National anthem ..
(b) Conduct During Playing.—During a rendition of the national anthem—
C) all other persons
present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right
hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should
remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left
shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and..

The United States is nothing but a slave state. It has no culture and no civilization. All you have to do is look at the responses in this thread. Can't come up with a logical argument. All you can do is spew your racial hatred toward black people like a good 'MURCIAN drone.
Leave the country and stop cashing your welfare checks

In India there are currently 18 and a half million slaves. To put that into perspective, there are six and a half million more slaves in India right now than were imported to North America, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands combined during the entire history of the transatlantic slave trade — 373 years, from Columbus’s discovery of the Americas to the end of the Civil War.
Most modern slaves are held in Central and East Asia, and Central Africa. The top ten countries on the list, in total slaves, are India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, North Korea, Russia, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Indonesia.

Trump knew exactly what he was doing...classic behaviour by him - say something controversial so that he takes over the news cycle for the entire week. He loves people talking about him regardless if its good or bad.
You all just keep feeding into his plan.
As crazy as it may sound, if all trump haters simply started to ignore him fully, his overall persona would shrink to the size of a peanut, and he would be forced to stick to presidential affairs.
As a Canadian, the US provides us comic relief on a daily basis with all your CNNs of the world.
The world is a truly messed up place, and every one of us should be grateful that we live in North America, where we take our freedom and safety mostly for granted.
Speak for yourself. The United States is a dangerous, violent place full of gun nuts, and extremists who would kill a church congregation for having the wrong skin color.

Some fans have threatened to boycott the NFL over players’ protests
during the national anthem. Titans tight end Delanie Walker has a
message for them: Bye!
“First off, I’m going to say this: We’re
not disrespecting the military'''
“And the
fans that don’t want to come to the game? I mean, OK. Bye. I mean, if
you feel that’s something, we’re disrespecting you, don’t come to the
game. You don’t have to. No one’s telling you to come to the game. It’s
your freedom of choice to do that.”
Looks like Delaine Walker doesn't quite understand where the revenue stream comes from...
