next speaker of the House, Republicans appear poised to
double down on the hard-edged politics  that most swing
state voters rejected in last November’s midterm election.

Kevin McCarthy has put the party at risk.
But even if McCarthy ultimately prevails, the show of strength
from the GOP’s ultra-coservative vanguard has ensured them
enormous leverage in shaping their party’s agenda.
  And that  could reinforce the image of extremism that
hurt Republicans in the midterm election, especially in the key
swing states likely to decide the next presidential contest –
Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia and Arizona.

Unbelievable!  Not in 100 years of our Republic has a party ever been so unhinged (GOP), so incompetent (GOP), that they can't even get together to vote in their House leader as Speaker on the first vote.

McCarthy will ultimately be elected as House Speaker.

But not before this stupid GOP drama plays out.

Here's the thing as I understand it,

if 11 GOP members and their families get so tired that they refuse to partake any further, that lowers the House from 434 to 423, and then, if all 212 Democrats show up to vote for Jeffries he would become the House Speaker!!!

Meaning the GOOD GUYS win again! 

I'm embarrassed for the few good republicans who actually do want what is best for our country, rejecting destructive party politics.

Yes, and now McCarthy has suffered a SIXTH (6th) consecutive defeat in votes for House Speaker to Hakeem Jeffries!

Looking like it could be 7 losses by 1830 ET,   then 8 shortly after, unless McCarthy basically waves the white flag and gives in to all demands.   But if he does that I wonder if his supporters might then turn on him for giving up too much
