Question about the vaccine

If vaccines protect the vaccinated, why is there a political push for mandatory vax for all in various settings? I don’t understand the medical rationale.

In pandemics, an infection anywhere is an infection everywhere.   Vaccines protect both vaccinated and non-vaccinated people by building immunity and reducing virus spread.  If over 70% of population is vaccinated, herd immunity reduces risk of virus spread to people without immunity.  Vaccines can substantially reduce number of cases, hospitalizations and deaths.   Without vaccines, infection of entire US population probably result in millions of deaths.

If you get vaccinated and you are protected, why do you care if another person gets vaccinated or not? 

If a person already had the virus, why would that person get vaccinated? 

Why are we not including people that already had the virus in the immune numbers?

My educated guess, FWIW, is that the measure of antibodies test is much more coin than the vaccine itself.  Personal experience had me experiencing severe muscle aches for a full 3 weeks last year.  I got tested eventually but it came back negative.  As long as I'm still feeling OK then I believe I'll pass on the actual vaccine choices.  That's one of the trends of this wicked virus is that some people's system develops enough antibodies but leaves other people severely vulnerable.

So, basically, there is no medical rational.  It is entirely a political ploy.  The chance of side effects from a vaccine is much, much higher than the reinfection rate with these numbers. 

Again, showing that Liberals do not really care about 'following the science'.

Problem is that natural immunity from infection is unreliable.  Not everyone develops immunity.  Strength and duration of protection can vary.  Vaccines offer safer and more reliable immunity than natural infections.  So doctors still recommend vaccination even for people previously infected.

 Again, just because YOU had a vaccination and now feel great DOES NOT GUARANTEE you CANNOT PASS the flu to someone else.  Or that your antibodies can fight off another attack upon YOU.

I don't see the reality of this push to furthur life expectancy 

Why the narrative that we need people to live longer? For what purpose? To stroke a primal notion that our benevolent association of rulers care for commoners

What are you using to define what is unreliable vs what is reliable? 

There has been 130,000,000 Covid cases worldwide. How many of the 130,000,000 have been infected twice? 

Whats your source showing why vaccines offer more reliable immunity than natural infection?

For example?

Sure -- you have this from time to time.  For example, the Mumps outbreak some years back.  Then there has been a meningitis situation from time to time.  Etc., etc.  But nothing that we advocate keeping safeguards in place even after vaccination.  For example, no one is overly worried about their kids getting measles at school. 

So, why do we have this great concern about Wuhan?  Are we not confident in these vaccinations? 

And again, what are your examples of a completely vaccinated person passing Wuhan along?  Even if you have a completely documented case here and there out of multiple millions that have been vaccinated -- is that enough reason to KEEP doing the 'safeguards'? 

My contention is absolutely not.

Stronger immune response and longer lasting protection.  Problem is that infection increases risks of suffering, hospitalization and deaths.  In contrast, almost 90% of vaccine side effects are non-serious, mild and temporary.  No proof covid vaccines cause any deaths according to Vaccine adverse event reporting system.  Vaccines offer extra protection for people already infected.  In New England journal of medicine, one study found vaccination after infection produces six times higher level of anti-bodies.

Thegoldengoose is right.  No vaccine provides 100% efficacy.  Older people are harder to vaccinate because of aging immune system.  Any approved vaccine must protect against disease but not all vaccines can prevent virus transmission.  Public health experts still recommend masks and other safety practices since herd immunity hasn't been achieved yet.

Why are we not counting people who have had the virus as immune? 

Of the 130,000,000 or so people that have had the virus, how many got it a 2nd time? 

It’s amazing the difference between standards for what it takes for a death to be contributed to the vaccine vs what it takes for a death to be contributed to the virus. 

Covid immune population is already being counted.  According to Statista, over 30% of US population is covid immune with most immunity acquired from infections.  In the future, majority of people is expected to become immune through vaccination.  Most people who recover from infections are likely to be immune for several months.  Reinfections are rare.  But survivors are likely to be high risk carriers in spreading virus, so mask wearing is still necessary to protect others.  Besides,  immunity doesn't last forever.  Also it is possible that immune response to one virus may be less effective against a variant.

Anyone can report a death to Vaccine adverse event reporting system.  But investigations often reveal deaths as coincidental and unrelated to vaccination.  Despite lack of evidence, anti-vaxers blame vaccines for deaths caused by pre-existing medical conditions.  However local doctors counting covid deaths are more accurate.

Maybe the vaccine is like the new Air Jordans
