Fact checkers are mostly right while conspiracy theorists are mostly wrong. Facts are supported by evidence while conspiracy theories aren't. Proving fact checkers wrong doesn't prove conspiracy theorists are right. During pandemic, there has been been a epidemic of misinformation mostly from anti-maskers and anti-vaxers. In age of internet misinformation, fact checking has become more important.

Science evolves depending on what scientists learn over time. Currently, scientific consensus favors natural origin of coronavirus over lab theory for good reasons. Very unlikely virus originates from lab because of a complete lack of proof. Genome shows no evidence of manipulation. Unlikely bio-engineering leaves no genetic signature. Other types of coronaviruses have similar features, providing evidence they evolve naturally.
However very likely coronavirus has natural origin. 60% of known infectious diseases and 75% of all new diseases in humans have animal origins. For examples, ebola, bird flu, influenza, HIV, swine flu, etc. Every year, there is a new infectious disease that originates from animals. So far, best information available comes from direct investigations on the ground by China and World health organization. Of course, findings are inconclusive and more research is needed.
