As in previous midterm elections, candidates endorsed by Trump tend to lose. Unlike polls, democrats seem to be doing better than expected in elections.

The inability of the GOP to modify stance on abortion rights will be their ultimate downfall in certain State election battles and very likely POTUS (if anyone other than Trump)...
Politics is a give & take relationship and not being able to cede something in the abortion battle, such as exceptions for rape / incest / etc. and / or limit on any abortion post 1st term proposals are DOA in the National scheme. Voters overlook this topic when it comes to Trump (abortion slides under the radar with him due to other focuses) but if he is not able to run 2024 and you get a Ronnie D as the nominee I will almost guarantee he'll go down as the DNC will make his stance on abortion front and center to hit hard on the voting public. If / when Newsome is announced needs to be on everyone's radar as DNC strategists are already planting the seeds in the minds of the public that Biden should step down from the 2024 race.

Recent election results are another perfect example of "what has the GOP done to make anyone think 2024 elections will be any different that 2020?"
The answer is "nothing". They are operating on a hope & a prayer.

Nah. I do not think it matters the much at all. The Media and the Left want it to matter very much though. Currently it is way down the list of voter concerns.
Politics may be a matter of gives and takes, BUT it is always the Right that is always made to 'compromise'. The Left is never asked to 'compromise'.
Some issues at their core are binary and really cannot be 'compromised' on.
The real big issues that are concerning to voters -- like the economy, healthcare, inflation, environment and immigration -- are issues that can be manipulated enough to see a give and take or 'compromising'.
Some issues the politicians should realize they need to concentrate on and others they should be less concerned with.

Correct. Hoping the economy and crime and inflation and illegals get bad enough to win an election is a losing campaign message.
They need to get out and promote a positive message with solid plans.
More promoting and less blaming is needed.

@Raiders22
The big question is what does the Left have in store for the Summer of 2024 ?? Messaging from GOP may take a turn as you say as things near next Fall but just as we saw in the mostly peaceful summer of 2020, there will be a media / social distraction brought on by the radicals leading up to November.

Republican Christie warns anyone who is overconfident about beating Biden in 2024 election is a fool. He blames Trump for disastrous run in elections. Biden always seem to be under estimated? Many voters vote for party regardless of candidate. Public polls one year away from election might be meaningless. The only polls that really count are elections.

It is "THE" only thing DEMs have to go on.. But is abortion really going to be a "National" issue when the decision has already been relegated to "The States?"
Those ballot initiatives are going on right now in the States, and the people are speaking.
Do you really think people are going to vote for Joe again ? C'mon now. Abortion will not be the issue, but DEMs will try as they might.
We're not even 3 years into his presidency, and inflation & 2 wars have started under his watch. A recession in 2024 will be the final nail in the coffin for Joe.

Abortion is definitely going to hurt republicans at the state level elections, and I think there will be some carryover to the national election, but it will no way be the same factor that it is for states.

@Kadejax
Show me the data where a Democrat has said he will vote FOR a Republican if he changes his stance on abortion.
Then contrast that with the data in the past that has shown they will vote FOR a Republican on economic and security issues.
Republicans do not gain votes ‘compromising’ on abortion; they will lose votes on it though if other things are all level.

Abortion rights have won in every election since Roe v. Wade was overturned. Yet, Republicans keep pounding that drum to their own demise.
Reminds of the old farmer who said "Who cares if the horse is dead, keep loading the wagon!"

It's not about "voting for Joe". It is about WHO the GOP ends up running for POTUS and HOW they plan to run a successful winning campaign. Did America "vote for Joe" in 2020 ?? NO, the Americans that won Biden the 2020 election voted AGAINST Trump. You don't think those same "swing" voters are going to do the exact same again?
This is the segment of the population I am referring to. Not the hard core life long Dems, they vote party line regardless. It's the moderates in the middle, think right leaning people who have voted Republican in past then voted for Obama, maybe they skipped 2016 then returned to vote against Trump in 2020. What are they going to do again faced with Trump / Biden?
What if it is Biden / RDS ?
Newsome / RDS ?
Newsome / Trump ?
So that is one part of the equation. The other part, the part that NO ONE WANTS to answer, is what is the GOP strategy for 2024 ?? How have any of the circumstances from the 2020 election changed for 2024 ?? Is the GOP taking strategic advantages in how swing State voting is set up that the DNC has shown they have OWNED them on since the 2018 mids? Is the GOP ready to ballot harvest in droves where legally allowed? That is just one example and nothing the GOP has done or said shows they have the ability to effectively strategize against the DNC machine.
Vivek called the GOP out on this last night and is the only one with the balls to do so....

GOP debates are pointless. They are performances pretending to be relevant to 2024 election. With Trump absent, none of the participants have a chance of becoming next president. Trump call them all losers. Actually, GOP debates mask the true nature of GOP authoritarianism and threat to democracy.

That is Thirds comment. I responded to this comment. Where in this comment do you see anything about "trying to overturn election results and remain in power after you've lost an election".

I'm thinking Third wasn't saying the debates are a threat to our democracy.But that the debates don't discuss (they mask) any part of the republican party who were complicit with trying to overturn the election results,which are a threat to our democracy.
