WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump met with a North Korean envoy Friday as the two sides worked to resume stalled efforts to end the North's nuclear weapons program by arranging a second summit with leader Kim Jong Un.

Trump and former spy chief Kim Yong Chol were to discuss relations between the two countries and continued progress on what White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said was "North Korea's final, fully verified denuclearization."

Kim Yong Chol earlier held talks with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at a Washington hotel. A State Department spokesman, Robert Palladino, said they had a "good" discussion toward progress on commitments Trump and Kim Jong Un made at their June summit in Singapore.

Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matzegora met with the DPRK’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choe Son Hui, who oversees denuclearization issues and relations with the United States, the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang wrote on Facebook page, TASS reports.

At the talks "the sides exchanged vital information, including in the light of the outcome of the recent visit of Chairman of the DPRK’s State Council Kim Jong-un to the Chinese People’s Republic." According to the diplomatic mission, the meeting discussed immediate prospects of "work of negotiation formats aimed at searching for the best ways to resolve the nuclear problem of the Korean Peninsula"

Amid expectations that Pyeongyang and Washington could hold high-level talks in the next couple of days,... the South Korean and Chinese delegates of the six-party talks met in Seoul today to discuss the latest develompents surrounding the Peninsula.
Special representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, Lee Do-hoon told his Chinese counterpart   Kong Xuanyou that Beijing's constructive role last year helped greatly in bringing the two Koreas to where they are today.
Lee also expressed hopes of continued close cooperation with China this year to denuclearize the Peninsula and establish peace in the region.
Kong agreed their close communication shows the diplomatic trust the two countries have for each other and said China will continue working towards the peninsula's peace process.

A lot more power than just trump involved, Putin Russia, XI China, UN North Korea, Trump USA, Moon South Korea, Abe in Japan have moved a huge amount of Vital resources to discuss denuclearization of North Korea. Maybe because Trump wrote a letter was a catalyst but hardly Nobel worthy.

outh Korea’s nuclear envoy may be heading to Sweden for possible talks with his counterparts from North Korea and the United States. 

According to Seoul-based Yonhap News, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Lee Do-hoon likely departed on Friday, canceling his schedules in Seoul for the entire day.

North Korea’s Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui has been visiting Stockholm since Thursday to attend an international conference organized by a private Swedish research institute. Lee was said to have been reviewing attending the same event.

Beigun, Choe,da-Hoon all seem to be in negotiations in Sweden this weekend. Japan has yet to say anything publically. China and Russia are discussing between themselves in outside freepress range but this all could lead to a Armiciticed Treaty and Peace in The Korean Conflict.

North Korea, China, USA, South Korea, Japan and Russia were apart of a six nation talks to disarmament.

these talks broke down and Hermit kingdom went back to seclusion in2009 when Obama took office.

Kim Sun Il died, his son took over and we continued this forever war we seem to be engaged in the Korean peninsula in 2010 Kim chol was believed to destroy a war ship that South Korea possessed many hardliners in the south believe " he should be beat to death" the hardliners have back seats as a liberal unification government now is in place.

Kim government under extreme poverty developed nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missile. 

Iran wants this capability as well. Trump decided to take a different approach. He met with the North Korean leader without conditions in Singapore today it seems like a switch was flipped and the six party talks are back with the goal of denuclearized Korean peninsula. in the  process there have been so many assassinations of moderate thinkers of the north,Kim Nam comes to mind but how many not sure. defections  , the never speak with the Korean dictator. Clinton actual was the first to meet with Kim in working an agreement to free two journalists working for Al gore. Rodman was the first Professional athlete to engage with Kim un. Bit the reality is courteous invitation to kim uns sister to attend the winter games in South Korea seems to be the tipping point twords this more normalized diplomatic dialogue we are witnessing today.

A State Department statement said that after Pompeo and Kim met, the two sides had “a productive first meeting at the working level”, and that Biegun would travel to Sweden at the weekend to attend an international conference.

The conference is also being attended by North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui. Washington has been keen to set up talks between Biegun and Choe but North Korea has resisted, apparently wanting to keep exchanges high-level.

South Korea’s nuclear negotiator, Lee Do-hoon, also would attend the conference, the country’s foreign ministry said, although it gave no indication of whether he would meet with Choe and Biegun.

US-based analysts said that North Korea, which has developed missiles and nuclear weapons in defiance of UN Security Council resolutions, would likely be seeking a clearer message from the Trump administration on any concessions it may be willing to make.

“The North Koreans need a real indication of what the US is willing to put on the table,” said Jenny Town, a North Korea expert at 38 North, a Washington-based think tank.

South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha said on Wednesday that if North Korea took concrete steps toward abandoning its weapons programs, Washington could offer a formal end to the 1950-53 Korean War, humanitarian aid or a permanent channel for bilateral dialogue.

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - North Korean vice foreign minister Choe Son Hui has arrived in Sweden to take part in roundtable talks, Sweden's foreign ministry said on Friday, amid stepped up international efforts to end the stand-off between the United States and North Korea.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs can confirm that Choe Son Hui has arrived in Sweden to take part in roundtable talks in a smaller format together with international experts," a Swedish foreign ministry spokesman said.

A diplomatic source said the purpose of the meeting was to take steps forward in the relations between U.S. and North Korea after things "ground to a halt" following a landmark meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore last year.

The source said earlier the talks had begun and had included Stephen Biegun, the U.S. special representative for North Korea. But a State Department official said Biegun was part of meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and North Korea’s lead negotiator, Kim Yong Chol, in Washington on Friday.

Kim Yong Chol's visit is aimed at clearing the way for a second U.S.-North Korea summit and mark a rare sign of potential movement in a denuclearization effort that has stalled since the Singapore meeting.

The Swedish foreign ministry spokesman declined to say whether Biegun would be joining the talks in Sweden or whether the discussions had already begun.

The meeting, which is due to last over the weekend, has been planned in secret for months.

Sweden's Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom, Cabinet Secretary Annika Soder and Sweden's envoy to Korea, Kent Harstedt, are also sitting in on the talks, the source said.

denuclearization is a given, North Korea is facing a disease infection with h1n1 mutations, they want medicine, we want a list of where the missiles, weapons and uranium is housed for verification of its destruction later on down the road. The problem is china does not reunification. North Korea is a buffer from a land route to the west with North Korea as a division . 

times change and this may not be required today as it was during titmen square. but no body on this planet trusts North Korea. everything has to be verified and reverified. The difference is that this is what the international community wants. the sanctions are un sanctions passed by the security council. and they are driving this discussion to peace , North Korea has not tested a weapons or missile in over a year. so they are complying with the first part.

The entire difference is those envoys from democratic korea. they never leave the ir country, Chol, the Russian envoy the lady in Sweden, Kim Un. those are powerful pieces on this chess board. Chol is like our Vice president. hui, is like deputy secretary of state. the Russian envoy in Beijing discussing missle defense with Russia. is like our secretary of defense...….. again this is a huge play to gain Tamiflu vaccines for the north.

a huge window is opening to make clear positional relationships with the North.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says “it’s high time” for serious negotiations between the United States and North Korea to outline a roadmap for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

The U.N. chief told a press conference at U.N. headquarters in New York on Friday that a roadmap would allow both sides “to know exactly what the next steps will be, and to have predictability in the way negotiations take place.”

Guterres spoke as North Korean envoy Kim Yong Chol met in Washington with President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to discuss a second summit between the U.S. leader and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un which is expected to focus on ending the North’s nuclear weapons program.

Guterres said it’s “important for the two parties to come together in an effective way.”

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday he had "an incredible" meeting with North Korea's nuclear envoy Kim Yong Chol and the two sides had made "a lot of progress" on denuclearization.

The White House announced after talks between Trump and Kim on Friday that the U.S. president would hold a second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in late February, but would maintain economic sanctions on Pyongyang.

"That was an incredible meeting," Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House, said of the talks.

"We've agreed to meet sometime, probably the end of February. We've picked a country but we'll be announcing it in the future. Kim Jong Un is looking very forward to it and so am I," Trump said.

"We have made a lot of progress as far as denuclearization is concerned and we are talking about a lot of different things. Things are going very well with North Korea."

The problem is no one has to go anywhere ever in that realm. everything can be done through red phone communication apps.

they had this capability for three years. the fact any diplomat is traveling anywhere is a huge sign of actual signatures actual planes actual in Our Presidents case an aircraft cariier parked off shore. The logistics of any of these diplomats using commercial flights is unheard of why the International papazzi press coverage of this event. 

From their positions Sweden holding a place on the security council of the United Nations, and remaining neutral all dialogue can go on with what is conference calling. through new York and most developments from now will be through ther new York ap or reuters feeds.

This was all done in secret till the actual diplomats were spotted. no one knew.

Nature, like everyone else in the world I truly hope you're right and these talks do come to fruition and are successful but you need to understand our skepticism as we have been hearing things like this for many years to no avail.
