(CNN)The House has passed the Equality Act, which would amend the 1964 Civil Rights Act
to protect people from being discriminated based on sexual orientation and gender identity in
employment, housing and other services as well as access to public accommodations
such as restaurants.
The final vote was 224-206. Three Republicans joined Democrats in voting for the bill.
The House first passed the Equality Act in 2019, but now its passage comes under Democratic
control with President Joe Biden in the White House and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
announcing Thursday he already intends to bring this legislation to the floor.

Biden's legislation to protect democracy is long overdue. Previous presidential administrations found voting fraud is very rare. Yet current GOP lawmakers have filed over 200 bills in 43 states to suppress eligible voters. Apparently, current republicans are afraid of democracy. Under Trump, GOP has lost control of congress and the white house. When desperate people cannot win legally, they resort to cheating. Courts recognize that voter suppression is a bigger problem than voting fraud. Lebron James and other pro athletes join civil rights movement to fight voter suppression.
Every single GOP Senator voted for Trump’s Tax Entitlements for the Wealthy. Zero voted for COVID Relief for American families. That says alot.

Previously, president Lyndon Johnson successfully reduced US poverty rate by improving social safety net. In addition to stimulus checks, there are also unemployment benefits, obamacare subsidies, medicaid expansion, food stamps expansion, rental assistance, welfare aid and child tax credit. Columbia university estimates 12 million Americans could be lifted out of poverty. Pew research polls reveal 70% of Americans support Biden relief bill.
