dissolved the Homeland Security Advisory Council, according to a letter obtained by CNN,
ousting a board of independent advisers that included Trump-era officials and setting
up a plan to reconfigure the council.
"I will reconstitute the HSAC in the next few weeks."
The move dismisses former Trump-era officials who served on the council, Ken Cuccinelli
and Tom Homan. There were more than 30 members of the council, according to the
most recent membership list.
Mayorkas has indicated a desire to "move very quickly" to create a new council that
reflects the priorities of the department, such as immigration, domestic terrorism and
cyber concerns.
He said there will also be a strong emphasis on the demographic makeup of the council
to "ensure that we look like America. And at the current time, we really don't,"
pointing to the small number of women and minorities.

an ambitious new target to cut the cost of solar energy by 60% within the next
ten years, in addition to nearly $128 million in funding to lower costs, improve
performance, and speed the deployment of solar energy technologies.
These investments support the Biden-Harris Administration’s climate goals and
will pave the way for affordable decarbonization of the energy system and
a robust clean energy economy.
“In many parts of the country, solar is already cheaper than coal and
other fossil fuels, and with more innovation we can cut the cost again

who already filed their returns without claiming the new tax break on
unemployment benefits, the agency said Wednesday.
The federal tax break went into effect following the recent changes made

a new tax break for tens of millions of workers who received unemployment
benefits last year.
