    Tariffs are effectively a TAX on Americans

        ....and they increase INFLATION!

    New York CNN —

    Donald Trump on Tuesday was interviewed by Bloomberg at the Economic Club of Chicago, where he once again touted historic tariffs as a way to grow America’s manufacturing sector by "supposedly" making foreign countries foot the bill.

    But, given the economy’s central importance in the 2024 race, it’s worth hammering on an Econ 101 fact: Tariffs are a tax on Americans!!

    A lot of people don’t seem to get this — including Trump, who, CNN has reported, has falsely and repeatedly claimed that China would pay for tariffs he imposes.

    It’s just not how trade works — not now, not ever!!

    an_lightVery simply:

    When a US admin puts a tariff (read: tax) on, say, Chinese goods, [or any of the other imports the IGNORANT con man has stated he would impose at least 20% tariffs] the actual money going to the US Treasury comes from the American company doing the importing!!! NOT CHINA!!!!  And for that company to stay in business, it needs to make up that cost somewhere else, and that typically means raising prices on its consumers! [ie, inflation!!!!!!!!]

    @wallstreetcappers

      It's pretty rich to say republicans have a problem because of Trump when we just went through one of, if not the, worst admins. in history.........& now the your party wants to back it up with Harris? Your hatred of Trump has TDS levels now. It's not an ideal situation, but can you honestly say you back Harris because you think she would make a good potus? Would you ever even consider backing Harris if ANYONE else was running for the right? She's proven to be a babbling fool & nothing more (her latest drivel about the stars was hilarious). She was the first out in the primaries 5 years ago, & probably wouldn't do any better if the dems put her through one now.

    @THEMUGG

     My party? Yeah my party...I thought you were not affiliated with a party? I am not in the slightest and I explained my position in the previous reply.

    If my choices are that two parties spend and have no fiscal responsibility then the choice turns to where the spending is most beneficial to those in this country with the greatest need. So since neither party is attempting any reasonable financial control my "party" choice is based on which does the most for those with the least. Same goes with my views on rights and freedoms (abortion) etc.

    Trump has no ability to create a platform of any kind, do you have a comprehensive platform for your guy that you can present that goes into depth at all? My hatred of Trump is not political, I do not hate anyone and that includes Trump. I call him what he is, a wealthy opportunist who is using your party of choice to forward his personal family interests. Trump has sucked more cash out of your party than any other candidate in history. Without his affiliation with the old GOP party would there be a Truth Social? Would there be a public stock for him to ravage? Would there be a platform for him to take personal advantage of if he were NOT a GOP candidate?

    Trump is a zero ego opportunist who has played your party for BILLIONS in personal cash, BILLIONS. Without his faux POTUS scheme he would be BILLIONS less in wealth, he has manipulated and stolen from your party...he is a disgusting self serving clown and I call him on that. Notice none of my comments are political, he is using the GOP as a vehicle to steal from your base and has absolutely no interest or motivation to impact anyone but himself and his franchise.

    THAT is my reply about Trump...refute it based on my message if you like but this other scuttlebutt about Biden and DNC blah blah has no place in a response.

    Posters inside Covers will commit 'voting malpractice' when they vote for harris! This is the worst Presidential ticket in the history of the United States! We were told today that the state of Pennsylvania will take days to weeks to determine their electoral college winner. The point is it will take Pa that long to cheat and defeat President Trump!

    @THEMUGG

     Why do several in your group try to take shots like this? I do not see members on the DNC side trying to bully your side into a corner and use what their personal vote choice is as some leverage against them. Why are you doing this exactly? Are we in middle school where the Harris voter gets heckled in the future?

    My vote choice as YOURS is personal and private, I do not need to disclose anything with regard to my vote and I will not ask you that question either, nor do I really care who you vote for.

    Nice reply to my Trump response though, you seem unable to come with a reply so lets go back to partisan political hen pecking, that is a great fallback spot for you.

    Just like Trump's 2018 tariffs were so horrible. Remember all the press back then?? I could even quote some posts here on Covers from 2018 but then I would get bullied right into the PB like the last time I did that.

      Sure, I understand if you don't want to answer. Me? I have to vote for Trump........I don't see Harris as a viable option at all. She has no new plan of her own, can't answer a simple question or defend her own actions, but mostly, I just can't imagine her trying to represent this country around the world. But I get it. She won't really be in charge, just like Biden wasn't. Basically, one would just be voting for an extension of the previous four years.

Income tax is better for raising revenue but Trump tax cuts constrained Biden options.

     Again, your volume of content gives the answer and you bait all the time, one of the worst in this forum so THAT is why I am not engaging. You are not earnest or sincere or open at all, you are closed minded and have drawn humorous conclusions as in the last message while completely excusing and dismissing reality.

    Ive spent too many hours on here trying to explain the fallacy your side pushes regarding inflation and yet you dont listen and you do not care. It is like watching these zombies who follow Trump and either believe the massive pile of lies he spins OR ignore/dismiss his lies and still will vote for him because of partisan loyalties. I think you lie in the second group, you know he is a liar, a cheat, a con-man and you will STILL vote for him due to partisan loyalties. You surmise your reason in the reply above and it is such a weak zombie response...four more years of this, what is THIS exactly? Stock market at ATH, home owners gaining equity, the country came out of Covid and people are working and living. Your entire premise of a vote is based on lies about inflation from a liar and a cheat..and you say it in a few words and are done.  Ive never seen you have conversation here this entire election cycle that was not partisan and jaded and one sided so dont tell me you are not party focused you completely are. How many times have I said I am shocked at your level of posting? Too many times...and I seriously do not ever recall a non-partisan conversation from you at all.

    So go and sell the non-partisan plate to someone else, you are one of THE most partisan posters here and while that is OK and I dont care who  you vote for, I do not go along with supporting a con man thief cheating liar who has NO PLAN...so you inaccurately blame one side and generalize "four more years" with zero definition and will vote for someone mentally unbalanced who has NO PLAN in the process. You also did not reply again to my original reply to YOU based on your message, you are happy to support a con man who has and will milk BILLIONS from your side, he has no plan he is mentally unstable and is the most negative dividing zero ego charlatan because you do not want four more years...lol

    At BEST our economy and that includes inflation is a two party situation, the POTUS does not have an inflation wand, the POTUS does not poof pass legislation and create or eliminate a deficit or inflation or jobs..the US economy has two equal parties and your elected officials determine the path of inflation and spending, NOT singularly the POTUS. The issue of inflation has nearly ZERO to do with the POTUS, but hey Trump said so and thus it is so...

    @wallstreetcappers

      I don't seek or need your approval. Calling me one of the worst partisans in this forum is comical, but you likely notice it more because we disagree on many things. Maybe if I just cherry-picked certain points & blew them up in great, big font & different colors it would go more unnoticed. Like I said before, sometimes all you can do is laugh.

     Stop with the "you worship Trump" bs. Do I accuse you of being a Biden lover? Or a Harris lover? I've said many times, I don't like the guy. But what choice do we have? We get one fuckin vote.....each. This isn't a slam dunk, but we don't get to vote on a % basis. We have to make a choice, & in this case it's choosing between two bad candidates......one of which was foisted upon voters without any say from them. Or we can just abstain from casting a potus vote. If Harris had shown ANY inkling of individual thought........some sign that she's a leader & doesn't just toe the party line, I would've considered her. But then if she did that, she wouldn't be the dem choice, would she? I read all 67 pages (give or take) of her "plan". Some of it looks good but mostly it's just shifting around tax breaks & typical campaign promises.

      We may not be so different. I live in a state that has been blue for decades & have grown tired of a lot of the D policies. You live in, what has been, a red state & it's clear you don't like a lot of the R policies. For the individual thinker, I doubt there's anywhere that a person would agree with everything their local gov't. does. But perhaps it's why we feel as we do about federal elections.

You also did not reply again to my original reply to YOU based on your message, you are happy to support a con man who has and will milk BILLIONS from your side, he has no plan he is mentally unstable and is the most negative dividing zero ego charlatan because you do not want four more years...lol  At BEST our economy and that includes inflation is a two party situation, the POTUS does not have an inflation wand, the POTUS does not poof pass legislation and create or eliminate a deficit or inflation or jobs..the US economy has two equal parties and your elected officials determine the path of inflation and spending, NOT singularly the POTUS. The issue of inflation has nearly ZERO to do with the POTUS, but hey Trump said so and thus it is so...

    Ive stated too many times my position, I am not partisan at all but given that neither side is focused on being fiscally responsible and both sides deficit spend to extremes and that does not ever seem to be possible, then my vote goes to the side that deficit spends to programs and areas that service the least in our country. That means social programs and all their flaws, I would rather spend on programs that are aimed at the middle to lower class and to benefit the citizens of this country more than corporations and defense contractors. It is no secret over the decades of time that one political party focuses on certain group spends and the other focuses on other group spends, this is not something I made up it is tangible and you know exactly what I am referring to.

    I find it almost comical how the Trump voter targets certain things and clings to certain things as to why they will vote for him even though he has admitted to not having a plan, he has merchandise for you to buy and he has marketing slogans but nothing else. He can sell you some shoes or a hat, he can sell you a watch and a ripoff silver coin he can lead you by the nose to subsidize and fund his legal woes, his media company and other self serving interests but he has no economic plan..his plan is to blame the other side and say MAGA...nothing else comes from him and nothing ever has. What I find the most comical is that those supporters of his fail to understand that the other party is the champion of their class much more than the TNC is and by that I mean that the TNC does not seek to lift up the lower and middle class, the TNC is not focused on a healthcare program that makes things better or focused on script costs or SS program improvements. The TNC only points out the problems of the other side and does not have new and better comprehensive programs or plans and there is reason for that (as I have stated).

    The TNC will not commit to a program or a plan, the TNC will not forward a path because doing so means there is obligation and cost there is responsibility and there is recourse. If Trump steps up to the plate then he is a target in the same way he targets the DNC and blames the DNC as a core platform for his TNC marketing campaign. Is this the kind of leader that you would vote for? Someone lacking mental capabilities, has no plans and does not inspire or motivate society to work together and think of each other. Trump is a schemer, a liar, a divider and has absolutely no desire to elevate this country and work with all sides to improve things. How can you vote for a cheating scuz who has taking BILLIONS in personal compensation by using the RNC as a vehicle to enrich him and his organization?

    Pied Piper is putting it mildly.

     Lost words...you have been generalized and categorized on the spreadsheet and there is no coming off it....you are forever tied to Trump because you are not against him in every post you make...it's the only way to truly draw the line in here between whether you are with them or against them, whoever them may be....even valid points will not help....you have to be labeled or you just on the shelf labelless with no identity...

    You are forever grouped with Trumpsters and you may even be looked at as a person of interest in the insurrection that caused millions to die....time to get a PO Box and a burner phone....how will you ever survive...

    @ABooksNightmare

    Ok so lets explore this pity party narrative you have, it is not that complicated to do and if you are sincere and serious it wont take long.

    What evidence do YOU have of seeking out non-partisan based conversation? I am not saying that you have to go into those partisan threads from the DNC members and join with them, that is not the measure at all. What discussion do you have that covers both sides of discussion and is not slanted to one side and is open to conversation and a different viewpoint?

    At least I will state my reasons and be open to other alternatives, I do not see that from you or Mugg or several others here and that means you are partisan. If you are closed minded to half of the discussion content then what do you call it?

    Another 100% tell signal is when a member (like you) targets ONE group exclusively and extensively, that is a true sign of partisan approach. I do not see you engaging with the DNC side, even those who are not in that clan group, but you engage extensively with all and any from the TNC/RNC side, you never are combative or questioning to the TNC/RNC side, like never and you are always the opposite to the DNC side. You never come to the rescue of a DNC member yet you are regularly and extensively aggressive to rescue the other group when someone (like me) points out flaws or issues or concerns.

    What do you call this exactly? Looks like a mountain of evidence pointing out you are exactly identical to Mugg and are biased in how you engage and interact here and yet you consider me calling it like this as some travesty...

    I dont care what party or who any member votes for, go ahead and be a TNC jockey or a DNC fan i dont care. I only take issue with members to members with regards to the guidelines, AND I will discuss topics with people who are seeking it and are not going to cut/paste me with other peoples words and who are seeking open and clear discussion.

    so......

    That's funny cause the very same claim could be made about you

    Another 100% tell signal is when a member (like you) targets ONE group exclusively and extensively, that is a true sign of partisan approach.

    Funny, cause I talk shit about both candidates and both parties, so you are wrong again here. But, keep your lumping cause that's what you do best an_wink

    I do not see you engaging with the DNC side, even those who are not in that clan group, but you engage extensively with all and any from the TNC/RNC side, you never are combative or questioning to the TNC/RNC side, like never and you are always the opposite to the DNC side.

    Unless you are flat out Democrat or despise Trump there is no discussing anything with the Democrats on here except for maybe Midnight...he might be one of the only level headed on here from the democrats...

    You never come to the rescue of a DNC member yet you are regularly and extensively aggressive to rescue the other group when someone (like me) points out flaws or issues or concerns.

    They are very combative..everyone knows you are not communicating with the Democratic people in this forum unless you publically despise Trump or are a true Democrat and making it known..those are facts...just how this forum has become....it's been documented in here hundreds of times. As I said, I post negatives about both parties and about both candidates, yet you still in your mind think I am a Republican probably which is sad because I have made it very clear I could give two shits about either candidate or party as they are failing us in many regards...but keep on with your agenda of labeling like you do with me...

    I simply posted to Mugg, so not sure why you got your undies in wad...It is my opinion just like you have yours and the day you release me from being lumped in with others like you continue to spew, even though it is untrue, then I will continue to say my piece...

    @ABooksNightmare

     Well you said lots of stuff but nothing to validate your claim or refute what I said..I guess good on ya for that?

    You are lumped into a category because of your posts, your words, your actions your replies, your threads, your stalking...notice the your dominance in the trend here. I "lump" you because you are exactly as I am describing, not based on anything other than your actions, words and deeds.

    Also notice I excluded the clan group, and there are several others who post and are either neutral or DNC leaning, so you cannot say there are not, but I can say you have not stalked ANY of the RNC/TNC guys into the main forums or heckled the RNC/TNC guys in the mains and in the box...see the repeated consistent trend here?

    My only concern is regarding the site expectations and also being a punk to other members, that has put you and I at odds since you started posting here and before my mod days...I cannot stand intimidating abusive bullies so when you go that route then we have an issue. Your political leanings and any other associations I wish you all the very best.
