Interesting. I have visited San Francisco twice and pretty much seen everything worth seeing. That political broad (sorry, person) says they need $25 million to get another 1,000 off the streets. Gimme $25 million and I will build a barracks and soup kitchen that will do it. I am pretty sure that at $25,000 per head I will not lose money, since there will no doubt be a per-diem allowance for care and feeding of those poor souls. The project will include plenty of toilets and TP, and communal showers, but I may need additional funding for safe disposal of needles. I am surprised the Trumpster has not bid on the project.

It doesent matter how much money you throw at it...........Its an ultra liberal socialist city........Its a policy issue not a budget problem.

Smart capitalists invest capital in projects that offer the prospect of a good return on their investment. There is not one of them who would think investing in the shitthole that is San Francisco is a good idea. Syria condominiums is a much less debt ridden opportunity.

A lot of California is beautiful but some areas are more "third world" than the third world... It's a shame the sane people have to live under the insane lefties that destroy everything they touch.

My hometown was voted America's most dangerous city for 2017. Complete neighborhoods are abandoned and now crack dens. The last Republican on the Baltimore City council was in 1942 - 76 years ago. The last Republican mayor was 1967, 51 years of solid Democratic Mayors. Add it all up and you get San Francisco & Baltimore.

Good capitalists invest in money making schemes and the location makes no difference at all, only the money counts. You think they will back off all the money the Pentagon will dump into San Francisco and every other city in California that will reap the rewards of defense industry largesse? Wake up and smell the coffee. Investors don't have to live in a shitgole to turn a profit. They have invested in many shitholes like Mexico, India, Bangladesh, Korea and China. The money matters, nothing else. That, in a nutshell, is capitalism.

Sabanesque once again proves how full of merde he is. For one, the ghettos in San Francisco are isolated and increasingly few and far between. So isolated that the average visitor to San Francisco never sees them. You refer to a "appaling latino barrio" when anyone who has really been to San Francisco recently would realize that the traditional latino neighborhood, the Mission, is a hipster hotbed and one of the highest rent neighborhoods in America. There are, in fact, far too many human dumps and hypodermic needles in the streets but most are found in three interconnected neighborhoods: the Tenderloin, Civic Center, and South of Market between, say, 6th and 11th. These three neighborhoods are adjacent to many of the touristy neighborhoods of the city so to a visitor the city can appear quite filthy.

MOST OF THE POOP AND HYPODERMIC NEEDLES COME FROM WHITE AMERICANS.

San Francisco's climate, both meteorological and socio-political, have always made it a destination for the nations dregs much like other west coast locales, Seattle, Portland, and LA. Funny thing is , with the exception of SoCal, the climate proper isn't even all that good in these places. I guess better than a lot of the country but I digress. They come, they do drugs, they poop all over the place, they leave needles. They come from Iowa and do this. Not Mexico. In fact, no one is coming from Mexico to San Francisco. It is too damn expensive. That is  the real San Francisco. Have you ever even been? Or did you make it all up as an attempt to segue a thread about poop into a thread about one of your favorite topics, Illegal Immigration, because your story is complete and utter bullsh#t. "Sprawling ghettos and barrios?" Where?

StumpTownStu; the same tgought occurred to me. A refrigerator carton under the expressway is about 3 grand a month. Pelosi and her LGBT crowd are about the only ones that can afford San Francisco. NP may speak lots of sympathy for the poor, but be darned if she is going to associate with them or live near them. No way.

According to a study by U.S. News,California ranks dead last among U.S. states in quality of life, according to a study by U.S. News..

U.S. News ranked California No. 43 in fiscal stability, No. 46 in opportunity, and No. 38 in infrastructure. It posted relatively high marks in health care (11th), economy (4th), and crime and corrections (28th).

California is a shithole ..........

I wouldn't go that far Stu, because I have a brother in the Sacramento area that has been quite happy there over 35 years; but, even he concedes he would not live in either Metro L.A. or Metro S.F. California has gone to the dogs if all you can do is work and fight abominable traffic. Sad situation for sure.

Where's it rank in population growth? And i'm not talking about illegals. If California is such a shithole, why is it that people can't seem to stop flocking to it? From all walks of life and all parts of the world. All socio-economic backgrounds. Aside from all of this, it's probably the most beautiful state in the country. Definitely top 10. I can ski down an Alpine mountain, surf in the ocean, and take in an opera all in the same day. Yeah, it's horrible.

The funny thing is all those things are true about California and yet somehow, in spite of it all, it's still probably the best state in the country.
The only problems California has are
1) Population growth. I'm not talking about illegals. I'm from Northern California and there not as bad of a problem here as in SoCal. I'm talking from everywhere from Austria to Zimbabwe. Everything from barristas to software engineers. Too many people want to live in California.
2) Inflation due to the crazy population growth and insane economy. Granted, I make a lot of money in California. More than i'd make anywhere else except maybe New York so what can you do?

Oh yeah, and there's the whole drought thing. So...three things. Yeah California sucks. I'd much rather be in Iowa. Why would I ever want to climb mountains? Grown men don't climb around on big rocks like children. Swim in the ocean? What are you, some kind of queen?
