My personal belief systems don't jive with any of the EHollywood Politics labels that y'all love to gab about, however i am a capitalist at the core, and as a free market loving Capitalist, i understand that i need an environment filled with other successful people, or else i am left with nobody to trade with,,,,,,,,

I appreciate his honesty and do not believe there will be a "conservative" on the ticket. I am voting RP either way. I am not endorsing this because I feel like it is great for the country, I am endorsing it because I can have empathy for his position.

Life is what you make it, i choose to live everyday to it's fullest. If you think poorly of others, you will have ill will towards them, but if you think good of others, you are likely to have positive interaction with them and it reciprocates.

Or you can work on that which you do have control over. Better yourself, help where you can to better those closely around you. We could read a book in the meantime there bro, i know you have good intentions, and i know times are tough and it get's frustrating, but if you only envision a negative future for yourself and your country, your perception becomes your reality. be the change you see in the world

Paul Ryan's "voucher plan" would make every senior shop for healthcare and I can assure you that IF they have a pre-existing condition, Ryan's "voucher" MIGHT pay for half the cost IF they could even GET coverage.

last weekend, i found some stuff that had been packed away after my nana died. Turns out she kept the newspapers from the day her grandkids were born, and on the front page from 30 years ago, was all the same bullshit fear tactics that politicians have used for the last century. '81 was SS going bust,,,,,,the best part was at the bottom corner of the front page, they printed interest rates, and Treasuries were 18%, savings accounts paid 5%,,,,,the good ol days

I am fully confident that regardless which party is in the white house, that SS checks will be printed and mailed from the Federal Reserve, so to be sure that everyone gets paid,,,,,,,,,,,,,,even though as i pay mine in , every year they use a wad of my money to print out a pamphlet that begins with telling me that "by the year 2022, SS will be bled dry, however, we fully expect people like you that actually still do productive work in this country, to labor fo the boomers so that they can get theirs"

 

I think you misunderstood the spirit of my post.

I was trying to express my frustration with the segments of our society whose social and political positions have no basis in reality. Daily we are innundated with utter nonsense presented as fact. We are surrounded by psuedo-intellectual (the left likes to think of them as useful) IDIOTS.

My business and full time regular job would, of course, both be  more lucrative in a good ecomony. That being said, I will not sit on my hands and feel sorry for myself should the worst happen in November. On the contrary, I have a wife and two small children who depend on me to provide for them. I also posess the initiative, ingenuity and desire to prosper in any environment (I have little doubt that you and countless other members of the productive class have as well) and I will use these tools to capitalize on the "unintended consequences" created by the central planners.

 

They sound like liberals. Shouldn't they be out woking and paying their own way?

I view the government as the person that sets the rules so that we can play the game.As a conservative you have made it known more than once that liberals leech off the system. I as just making a comparison .How do you view the government?

 

As defined by our Constitution I see it as a neccesary evil, an evil that needs to be kept in check.

In its current manifestation I see it for the abomination that it has become. I am deeply disturbed by those - like you - who willfully give up their God given Liberty and think it makes them seem smart or somehow patriotic.

To use your analogy, how long would you "play the game" if those in charge could change the rules at any time and confiscate the rewards you were earning for successful participation?

 

P.S. In a Democratic Republic our elected officials are supposed to REPRESENT us. RULERS (as you, accurately, described them) have no place in one.

YES I AM BUT that's BESIDES the POINT. AND, unlike people like Romney and oviosly YOU, I CARE about my fellow seniors that may NOT be as well off.

also, without Medicare I would be one serious illness away from NOT being a millionaire. I recently had a bout with sciatica and after all the tests trying to first identify the problem and second treating it, it would have cost me six figures.

like I said, I, and milloins of other seniors, paid into SS and Medicare our whole woking lives and we DON'T want some POPDICK like Paul Ryan STEALING it. THAT bird is supposidly in a "safe seat" in his Wisconsin district. we will find out next November. IF he has a bunch of seniors IN that district, he an d the Republicans could be in for a nasty suprise

and btw, IF we had the interest rates we had in the late 1970's-early 80's, I could probably DO without SS BUT with the "relatively risk free" 2% I'm getting, that's about 2k a month with my liquid net worth as opposed to 15k @ the 15% govenment bond rate back then.

please don't lump me in as someone that obviously doesn't care. I tend to care about everyone across the age demographics equally. Is the money still there, or is it already gone?  If it's already gone, the only way they can make good on it is to take from my generation and younger.

At the end of the day, if they are able to send all the boomers the 1200 per month that they earned by working and paying in the whole time, and they manipulate the currency so that people like my soon to be senior parents are paying 300+% increases on their home heating oil to survive the winters, none of it really matters anyway



my parents have rented the same house for about nine years. The guy that lived there before, had to move out back in 2002, because he couldn't afford heating oil anymore once it went over 1.00,,,,,It is 4.00 per gallon currently, and that is with some of the weakest domestic demand that we've seen in years

I think that most seniors, myself included, realize that the one making war onthe seniors is President Obama and his Obamacare.  Medicare premiums are jumping ahead wildly, I think it will cost a senior  around $240 a month for the premium in 2014, you can check it out.  Thank you,Obamacare.  The liberal Democrats use this same scare tactic every election, without fail.  I am sorry for those that cannot understand this.  It is not the Republican s that want to destroy Social Security, it is the stupid members of Congress, (both parties) who have refused to make the needed changes, they would rather holler "Medicare is doomed!"
