the ravens got shut out for 3 quarters from cleavland
I'm with you Pro-Z {cough, cough} I mean "Colts all the way".......
Ravens didn't look all that impressive against the Browns. T-Sug getting dinged didn't help their defense either. I think "Gashead" Manning rips this "great" defense a new one. Over? Yes! Colts running rampant? Yes! Good luck everybody........

This line tells you Ravens win. How can they be favored over the colts after the way the've played the last 4 weeks? Indy coming off a real tough game against NE and now travelling to Baltimmore, guess this is a perfect spot for thier first loss of the year, Vegas I agree.

No way Colts lose this game. Give the points no matter where it ends up. This Raven defense isn't near as good as it used to be and Manning will once again light up another team. If the Colts are to lose this season, it won't be against the Ravens. Next weeks game at Houston will tell that story. Ravens can't score with the Colts and won't stop them either !

I like the Ravens in this spot. The reason why is the Ravens always have way of covering the spread or beating undefeated teams. This year they beat the Denver Broncos they covered the spread one year when NE came to town undefeated and again they beat Denver when they came to town undefeated with Elway and company. Good to all!!!

Ravens will take this, they are a solid team and at home they should be able to come away with the victory, should be a great game to watch
i guess you don't watch much football.. the ravens are a solid team???
dude they couldn't score a single point for 3 periods against a team that are one of the shittiest in the nfl. the colts d kept brady from a first down on a 4th and 2 away. you really think flacco is capable of winning against manning. my answer is hell no and this line will move to indi -3 by game time and you will see. how solid can they be with 4 losses and one of them is at home?
indi 33-17

Hey coltsalltheway you must don't know your football. I recall you was the same dude saying Denver was going to beat Washington by 10 and cover the spread easily. My friend that is why they play the game.

I've heard the arguments both ways- Vegas creates lines so that the public will be suckered into some bet vs. Vegas cares only about getting 50% of the action on each side of the line. I've always believed that the "sucker line" believers were nothing more than conspiracy theorists.
Then I saw this line. I don't know who will win. I don't know what the score will be or how it will play out. But I do know, that under no circumstances did Vegas open the lines at Baltimore favored by 1 with the hopes that the public would be 50/50 on each side of that line. Please don't think I'm arguing Baltimore doesn't have a chance, because I have no idea- but I do know that there are enough people out there who will just look at the records, look at the starting QB for Indy, look at the first half of Monday Night's game, whatever, and POUND Indy.
Heck- the line has laredy moved two points on most books. Can that really be a surprise to Vegas?
I think this line justifies an article from the insiders discussing the frequently discussed "sucker line" vs. 50/50 strategy of the bookmakers.
Thanks for letting me rant.

Wow, this line is totally hard to believe. I know. For the person above who thought that they opened the line with Baltimore as favorites so that they will sucker you to bet Indy, is missing the point. Simply put, Vegas wants you to over think this one. If Indy opened being the favorite, it would be probably no more than -3 points. In that scenario, more people will be betting Indy. But now that Indy is the underdog, people will over think this one. Think of it this way, If you were betting the farm on this game with the Ravens being favorites, would you feel confident betting on the Colts? The fact that Vegas has them as underdogs already confuses everyone, which is what they want us to. Don't over think this one, folks.
The Colts are not ready to lose yet. Not this week. They are still inspired from last weeks win and hungry for another Super Bowl. One ring isn't enough for Peyton. People have written them off after last year. What they don't want to believe is that they are the most feared offense in the NFL, and they proved it against the Patriots last Sunday.
The Ravens will keep it close though. Their playoff hopes are fading quick. They just don't have the extra juice and Flacco has not reached his full potential yet, especially with the offensive pieces around him. It's a very important game for them and they need the win to keep their hopes alive. Ravens fans will have big expectations and won't settle for a loss, which they will have to. Even if the Ravens win this, they still are jocking for position in the division with the Steelers and Bengals... Not liking the Ravens chances.. might as well call it a season.
Colts +1

Thanks for your input. Your position is actually a fresh take on it. If I understand what you're arguing, Vegas is playing with our minds to get 50/50 action. You note that if Indy opened as -3 favorites the public would have been all over them. Therefore, you reason, Vegas opened the line at Balt -1 to make Joe Public doubt himself and (I guess) bait us into betting on the Ravens.
My entire point is Vegas presumably wants to avoid risk, while maximizing profit. It does this by getting 50% of the action on each side of the line. When it accomplishes this goal, it cannot lose, and is guaranteed the juice from half the bets. It requires one to conclude that Vegas is not satisfied with a sure win, but instead is in the business of assuming risk (which it is not i.e. we all know there is not a single table game or slot that has a positive return) to try and improve its return on a single game.
Respectfully, I don't think I'm missing any point; however, I do think you missed the point of my post. If Indy -3 would have landed the vast majority of the money on Indy as you argue, then why wouldn't Vegas open the line at -7 or any number in between. In other words, Vegas doesn't need to mess with our heads to get 50% of the action on each side. It just needs to pick a number that would result in that betting pattern. It is apparent from your post that you agree that opening the game at Balt. -1 is obviously not a number that Vegas would have expected to entice half of the bets to come in on each side.

until I saw the Bal v Cleveland game I was convinced that the worst team I had ever seen was the Seahawks of about 20.years ago.... I am not so sure anymore... I think Cleveland ranks right up there. Since Baltimore doesn,t seem to be much better( at least on the strength of that game) I couldn,t believe my eyes when I saw the spread Indy -1. I honestly thought it was a mis - print and should be minus 11. I have done nothing but bet losers all year but this seems such a very strange line that I am afraid to touch it

I'm all about Indy on this one. Cleveland looked like complete garbage Monday night and Baltimore only scored 16 points on them. Indy should double that.
