I remember proud Giants fighting undefeated Patriots from start-to-finish in LY's "meaningless" reg-season finale. Expect the same this afternoon against a Viking team that's proven to be unreliable when facing a quality oppenet.

Giants vs. Vikings -7 (2 units) - the Giants will be resting some key players today, but Minnesota needs a win to get in. Playing at home will only motivate them further. This spread is rather large for such a big game and I realize that even the Giants backups are pretty capable of playing well. However, winning the division and knocking our their rival (Chicago) should be enough to get this offense moving and put points on the board.

RandyandShirl...last year's Giants/Patriots finale certainly had a lot more meaning than this week's game. Going for the first 16-0 season was pretty damn huge. I see the same type of game here as the Giants know that resting players before the playoffs doesn't work out. They saw it first hand last season when they played Tampa Bay in the playoffs. Especially resting them this week when they have a bye week next week. That's when you rest them. Either way, a lot of points will be put up in this game because that's how these two always play each other. 41 points has been put up in every meeting over the past 11 years. No reason to stop it now.
OVER 41.5
Prediction: Vikings 30 Giants 23

Spytheweb Posted: 12/23/2008 7:32:49 PM.....Giants don't need this game like they didn't need the Dallas game.
...yeah, ok...I suppose they really didn't need to win the Panthers game either...that's why they let them get ahead by 14 then came storming back to win by 6 in overtime...wow...5 years on covers and that is how you start this thread...how no one else found that statement absolutely ludicrous blows me away...sigh
Do you play chess? I do. The Dallas game, as much as i hate Dallas and would like to have killed them, going all out to beat the Cowbillies served little good in the big picture. The Panthers were the game that Giants needed, and got. The fact that NY was behind by 11 and ended winning by 6 shows they were the better team. The Viking game meant what? The Giants have the #1 seed and a bye, winning this game would do what? Manning was pulled after the first half and the Vikings just did get the win, a must win for them. BTW, the Giants did cover.
Good teams win games, Great teams cover the spread!
