Hmmm....
Inital instincts had me jumping all over Zona in this one, but I'm getting that bad too good to be true feeling.
Arizona has the far superior offense, and yes the 49ers have their back against a wall here, but isn't that when dogs bite?
Rule of numbers and the stats from the last four weeks say Zona covers by double digits easy, keep in mind tho it is a nationally televised game, Frank Gore is the man, and Kurt Warner looks MVP sometimes and pop-warner sometimes. I think just about any quarterback in the NFL would have a winning record if they got to throw to Boldin and FItzgerald. If I had to make a prediction for the final score it would be:
Cards 34 49ers 13
I play devils advocate against myself tho and can see the Niners running one back right off the bat and with that spread being down by 17 isn't cool.
I know the game plan for the Niners will be to slow down the clock, and run the ball as much as possible. They want to keep Zona's offense off the field, and the ball out of their rookie QB's hands, but if you can't pick up the first downs you need, that game plan will get you nowhere. AZ has a good run D, and they will be blitzing the rook, ultimatey leading to no scoring by SF and good field position for AZ. Both teams are healthy, but SF is a mental tragedy!
I'm likin the over but I think the books have this one pegged pretty close. All said and done I'm going to ride the Cards for a small one just to keep things interesteing.
