Titans at Steelers -6.5 O/U 35.5
I like the posts by Stalker and Nhoveem, difference of opinion but at least there is information in their posts.
Agree with Stalker about last yrs game being misleading if you just look at the score. Difference was in the sacks and turnovers. Pitt has more total yds.
Neither team is an offensive powerhouse. (Titans #21, Steelers #22 in 2008)
Pitt passes for about twice as much yd as they run(rushing 105yd/gm #23: passing 206yd/gm #17) and Tenn is more balanced(137 rush #7 176 pass #27)
Clearly this is a defensive matchup, the #1 def vs Titans #7 def.
Problem for Pitt will be O line's protection of Ben, he holds the ball too long gets too many sacks and too many ints for an A grade QB (#2 in sacks at 46, #4 in Ints at 15) The sacks and ints can change the game (see last yrs gm)
Amazingly Collins and Ben's QB ratings last yr were nearly the same with Collins being higher 80.2 vs 80.1 Which QB would you pick if you were picking teams? (its the 15 ints that hurt Ben's rating)
Titans have a new Def coord. in Chuck Cecil with J. Schwatz leaving for Detroit. Cecil moved up from def backs coach position and was safety and nickel back coach before that so he knows the scheme well. Expect the same old same old. Jevon Kerse at DLE is getting old and could get picked on.
Titans will need to run with C Johnson and Len Dale White and their good O line.
Pitt has S Holms as a deep threat and that opens up the field for H Ward. Titans N Washington is their only burner but he isn't really.
This game looks like a low scoring, defensive battle. Pitts def is a little better than Tenn, Pitts off is a little better than Tenn, Pitt is playing at home. I just don't know if Pitt can cover the 7 pts.
Early in the season usually the def is more ready than the off.
