Francesco Molinari ov Kevin Chappell
Chappell in 2017 has a 48th, 75th, and a Missed Cut at the Farmers (Torrey Pines). All Molinari has done is finish inside the top 15 in every tournament in 2017 including a 14th at the Farmers (Torrey Pines).
Perez ov Furyk
1 tournament this year for Furyk, he finished 66th. Before that 6th at the RSM, a Missed cut at the OHL Classic. Maybe he’s getting older, losing his touch, but he’s not as good as Perez is right now. Take out the WD at the Waste Management with a flared up shoulder, he has 3 finishes inside the top 4, and he’s 4th in FedEx Cup points. Furyk has a pretty good history at this tournament, but that’s years ago. He didn’t play in this tournament last year because of the wrist.
Tony Finau ov Jason Kokrak
Kokrak finished 2nd here last year, where as Finau missed the cut. But that doesn’t tell the story of where these guys are at right now. In 2017 Kokrak has missed the cut 2 out of his 3 tournaments including the Farmers (Torrey Pines). Tony Finau in 2017 Missed the cut by 1 stroke at the Waste Management and besides that has 4 finishes inside the top 25 and two of those inside the top 10, and one of those was a 4th place finish at The Farmers (Torrey Pines)
Paul Casey ov Brooks Koepka
Casey started slow in 2017, but has gotten better every tournament. Missed cut at the Sony, 58th at Career Builer, 28th at the Farmers (Torrey Pines). Before the break over Thanksgiving and Christmas, he had a stretch where he finished 12th, 21st, 3rd, 2nd, 2nd and 4th. Koepka in 2017 has a 42nd at the Waste Management and a Missed cut at the Farmers Insurance Open (Torrey Pines). Koepka has never played at this tournament, and Paul Casey has played here 5 times and never missed the cut.
Kyle Stanley ov KJ Choi
In 2017, Kyle Stanley is 24 shots under par. He has 2 36th place finishes, and a 14th at the Farmers Insurance Open (torrey pines). Out of 12 rounds Kyle Stanley has played 10 rounds have been at 70 or under. KJ Choi in 4 tournaments in 2017 is 10 shots over par. In 9 rounds KJ Choi has 1 round at 70 or better. I know KJ Choi has great tournament history here, but he’s just gotten older. I’ll toast to KJ choi because he’s played here 15 times, and has never missed the cut…that’s an incredible streak, but like the Undertaker…all streaks must come to an end.
Adam Scott ov Justin Thomas (bovada)
Adam Scott loves this tournament. 2nd last year, 10th the time before that. Justin Thomas has played here twice, finished 54th and 41st. Adam Scott is just a top 10 machine, and he’s played a couple tournament in the off season and finished well. 3rd at the PGA Australian Open for example. Justin Thomas had those two incredible performances at the Tournament of Champions and the sony, but he missed the cut at the Waste Management. We’ve talked about Torrey Pines being a good comparison to this course…Justin Thomas has only played the Farmers insurance once…missed the cut.
