Once again it appears Tiger may be on the edge of another comeback.
For those of you that hate him. Q Mich etc(sorry to single you out buddy) stop reading and save yourself 5 minutes of your life.
For those of you that are straight up Tiger lovers your not going to like what I have to say so stop reading also.
But those that have a moment and that love the mechanics of golf read on if you care too.
Two things are very obvious 1st Tigers mechanics are changing once again. He claims to be hitting it better off the tee than ever he claims he has found the key to maintaining his new swing moves so that his release is more controlled and therefore his iron game and chipping is coming back to where it should be. He claims the chunks are a memory. The 2nd thing is Tiger is actually smiling again for real his attitude is markedly improved even after traveling toothless he seems to be finding a personal balance..amazing given his awkward position in both business and golf worlds.
So Tiger is on the mend no one is really expecting him to do an about face overnight so the books are cautious but yet the betters are rampant both for and against waiting for the numbers and offers to come out.
So what do you say? Play or Fade.

Until he starts making putts the swing change wont matter much IMO. When he was winning all the time he didn't miss inside 10 feet and certainly not when it mattered. Just think that he can hit it as good as he wants till he gets his confidence back on greens he isn't worth what will most likely always be much to low a price. His issues aren't his swing, he is skull fuc ked.
I also hope it never happens.

I agree his confidence is lacking and the flat stick is his major issue.
He looks to be less uncomfortable and a little happier in general though so if he can get a few to fall and keep it in play we might just see him turn it around but regardless I'd be shocked if we saw more than a round or two from him that was really low.

And added 15 yards off the tee and in play won't hurt his iron game either and if he can get more 10 footers not 20/25 footers his percentages should improve quickly.

"I was caught between techniques, between my old release pattern and body movement when I was working with Sean [Foley] and then my new release pattern," Woods said. "We had to basically just hit thousands upon thousands upon thousands of chips and just get it out of there, and now it's better." Tiger Woods

Fade against Kuchar...play vs. Reed....Like I said earlier, Eldrick does not commit to any tourny unless he thinks he can win or at least be in contention come Sunday...
Nice write up by the way Biggin'!!

I think even Tiger knows 4 rounds is a stretch for him given the rust but I really do see a big attitude change maybe its the new consultant Como maybe rekindling the fires with Lindsey who knows but the guys confidence is just dancing beneath the surface. If he can get the flat stick figured out he might show us something..
The release in golf shows in all parts of the game and greatly effects confidence and I like his new release it shows through all his clubs even his putts if he can chip it within reason it will gain and he won't have to force the 'I can do it attitude' every time he steps over a putt or chip. If successful we will see it in his face pretty quickly.

Maybe it is me hoping and I do but cant see him getting anywhere close to his old self. He is still better then 85-90% of guys on tour every time he tees it up(when healthy) but he doesn't scare any of these younger guys. That was a huge advantage he had when he was in his prime. Unless he can start making putts and doing it consistently then it doesn't matter. Lets not forget he is an old 39, all the stress his swing has put on his lower body over the years cant be underscored. Injuries aren't going away.

Thanks for the comments guys it's nice to hear some old golf guys sound off. Ben old 39 damn that's harsh! AJ I love that you steeped up and made a play not sure I have the faith quite yet to back him with my dollars. QMich nicest words I've ever heard you utter about Tig good discipline bro proud of you. Hope we here from some more of the old group
Ok we all agree he is surely still gotta have rust . We also agree that his flat stick is his real weapon to score and with out that hot he really can't compete with today's fearless youngsters. It seems most feel his overall game still has the components to still be competitive.
Do any of you guys see a sign that he is actually happier and more relaxed than in well ... Years.
You can't go into the zone unless your head is right and I think Tiger has finally reached a place where his head is getting right.

I also see him maturing and I don't think he cares as much as he did on out performing everyone with his physical prowess. He knows he is just one of the gang now. But any competitive golfer knows that in the zone is where the real low stuff comes from. Like the physical parts of golf which are conditioning muscle memory the mental part of the game requires just as much nurishment I won't be at all surprised if Tiger who spent as much time in the zone as anyone isnt getting flash backs of the good old days. I hope we get to see some cause I sure loved to watch it.

I think he will have flashes of Tiger, but for the most part that little light (great golfer) has dimmed. Confidence is great when you have it, but his is shot and he expects so much from himself, when he doesn't do what he used to he mentally beats himself up. I don't want this to go into a long discussion, but I still don't get the Tiger hate. If you hate him, you should also hate the majority of athletes as they all do it, Tiger just got caught. Go Tiger!

His attitude was absolutely the first thing I noticed. Amazingly improved...and as most of us know that is a huge factor in the game of golf. If you go out there pissed off and super competitive it's not going to end well. You are going to dwell on the bad shots rather than build on the good ones.
The second thing I picked up on that he really pounded home was the swing speed. For any golfers out there that have had injuries to the knees or back you know that SPEED is the hardest thing to get back. You never want to swing as hard as possible because you are scared of something popping or tearing. Same with Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo and Kobe Bryant in basketball...once you have that injury, the fear is almost impossible to get out of your mind.
The reason why I love Tiger is the way he changed the game. Whether you like him or hate him...you watch. He makes people watch...and that's what matters.

I didn't mean 39 is old but he is an old 39, much like LeBron is an old 30. So much wear and tear on his body and over last few years we have seen it start to catch up with him. As much as I cant stand him even if he is at 75-80 he is still better then a huge % of most fields. He will win tourneys but if he is to win Majors again he needs his short game of old or cant see him being able to put together 4 rounds.

Just read 56th in the world ranking? I remember when Westwood plummetted past 200 and he is back. I see a corelation with the barrel of oil, straight down no banging the sides and wondering where the bottom is!!!

Tiger will not make the cut this week . He is +175 To Not make the cut this week. I don't care how many times he's won at Torrey Pines this course is too hard to be in that thick rough all day long not to mention his short game is a train wreck. He's finished last or close to it in his last few events and all phases of his game are just not polished at the level they need to be. He is however killing the ball distance wise but his % of Fairways and Greens looks like he is a 10 Handicap.
If you can find this bet please bet NO MADE CUT +175
