Miami Heat vs Golden State Warriors The Golden State Warriors play host to the Miami Heat at Oracle Arena on Thursday. The Heat (2-3) have gotten off to a rough start this season, but they were unbelievable on Wednesday. They went on the road and handed the 4-0 Portland Trail Blazers a 119-98 beatdown. They led by 26 points at times in that masterclass, shooting over 50 percent from the field. All five starters scored at least 14 points in that victory, while Max Strus provided 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench. If all six main pieces are playing at that level, this team should return to the form that made them the top-seeded team in the east last year. With that said, this does mark a back-to-back for Miami, so it remains to be seen if all of these veterans suit up in this spot. The Warriors (2-2) looked incredible in their opener but have dropped two of three since then. They were manhandled by the Phoenix Suns in their most recent outing, losing 134-105 on Tuesday. Klay Thompson had just two points before being ejected in that game, and it's been an uphill battle for the former All-Star. Stephen Curry is actually one of the only players playing well on this roster right now, scoring at least 30 points in all but one game. That's why no one is panicking about the 2021 champs because they can get rolling at any time. One thing they need to improve quickly is their defense, though, allowing nearly 120 points per game. These teams played twice last season, with Golden State sweeping the season series. Golden State Warriors -6 |

@MrBator I feel you! I do expect them to lose tonight, especially since the Spurs did beat the Wolves the night before. I think they will be able to cover the +10 |

San Antonio Spurs vs Minnesota Timberwolves The Minnesota Timberwolves play host to the San Antonio Spurs at Target Center on Wednesday evening. This marks the second of back-to-back meetings between the two sides, after the Spurs defeated the hosting Timberwolves, 115-106, on Monday. The Spurs jumped out to a strong start in the game and led 39-28 after one quarter. The Timberwolves picked it up in the second, but they could only trim the deficit by one point and trailed by 10, at halftime. The Spurs turned it up a notch in the third quarter, outscoring the hosts 36-14, to charge ahead to a 32-point advantage heading into the final frame. The Timberwolves gave it a good effort in the final quarter, but it was too little too late, as the Spurs held on for their third straight win. Devin Vassell led the Spurs with 23 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and a steal, in 33 minutes. Keldon Johnson tallied 18 points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while Jeremy Sochan and Jakob Poeltl logged 14 points each. The Spurs shot 46 percent from the field, including 12-of-37 from long range. Meanwhile, Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, in 39 minutes. D'Angelo Russell followed up with 25 points, five rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block, while Anthony Edwards finished with nine points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. The Timberwolves shot 44 percent from the field, including 8-of-31 from deep. The Timberwolves have a major size advantage with Towns and Gobert, and they also have the benefit of experience, but the Spurs have surprised a few teams already and cannot be taken lightly. The Spurs are looking for their fourth straight win. San Antonio Spurs +10 |

The Washington Wizards will host the Detroit Pistons at Capital One Arena on Tuesday. The Wizards (2-1) are no longer perfect following their 117-107 loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, but there’s no question Washington has looked better than advertised throughout their opening three contests. During Sunday’s loss, Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 27 points, complementing them with five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Kristaps Porzingis generated an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double that included three assists, one steal, and one block. Rui Hachimura furnished 16 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Monte Morris totaled 13 points, six assists, and three rebounds. Kyle Kuzma supplied 11 points, three assists, two rebounds, and two blocks. Corey Kispert (ankle) has been ruled out for Washington. The Pistons (1-2) are rebuilding and starting everything from scratch, and while they have some key young players that are supremely talented, they’re also very young and prone to make mistakes. In fact, that’s what prevented them from winning Saturday against the Indiana Pacers, a game in which they ended up losing by a 124-115 score. Cade Cunningham was the leading scorer for the Pistons with 22 points, while Isaiah Stewart had 11 points and 16 rebounds despite shooting just 2-for-10 from the field. Saddiq Bey ended with 20 points and 11 rebounds, but he also added three assists, and Bojan Bogdanovic notched 16 points and five dimes. Jaden Ivey posted 17 points and 11 rebounds while also adding five assists. Alec Burks (foot) and Marvin Bagley (knee) have both been ruled out for the Pistons. Detroit Pistons +5.5 |

Utah Jazz vs Houston Rockets The Utah Jazz takes on the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on Monday night. The Jazz (3-0) has arguably been the biggest surprise in the league over the first several days of the new season, most recently notching their third win over a name opponent when they edged the New Orleans Pelicans in overtime on Sunday night, 122-121. Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz with 31 points, adding 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block. Kelly Olynyk produced 20 points, five assists, three rebounds, and one steal. Jordan Clarkson furnished 18 points, six assists, one rebound, and one block. Jarred Vanderbilt delivered 15 points, four rebounds, one assist, four steals, and one block. The Jazz will likely be without Udoka Azubuike (ankle) for Monday's game. The Rockets (0-3) opened the new season by experiencing a pair of trademark losses to more talented opponents in which they fought hard before succumbing, but they were throttled in their most recent contest by the Milwaukee Bucks, 125-105, on Saturday night. Jalen Green led the Rockets with 22 points, adding four rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Kevin Porter delivered 18 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and two steals. Kenyon Martin Jr. turned in 14 points, five boards, and two assists. Jabari Smith Jr. generated a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double that included one assist and two blocks. The Rockets will remain without Jae'Sean Tate (ankle), Bruno Fernando (knee), and TyTy Washington (knee) for Monday's contest. Monday's game marks the first of three meetings between the teams this season. The Jazz took three of four games from the Rockets in the 2021-22 regular-season series. Houston Rockets +2 |

@dustmiester Lol... I figured. I knew the Kings were playing back-to-back. I liked the Mike Brown vs Steve Kerr match-up. Plus the King's track record against the GSW. Plus I like how the Kings always play them tough. Can't win them all. Lol. But thanks for the insight. |
