Last week she lost her first round match at an ITF event also here in Istanbul. Her opponent today will be Laura Pous-Tio. Pous-Tio is a player who did not catch any form this season so far however now the important weeks start for her where she will grind on clay and hopefully get back some of her confidence. Last week she lost to Kostova in streight sets but I really like the stats Pous-Tio brought on the court: High first serve rate. The odds are really bad placed here: This match will be on clay (not hardcourt as mentioned on tennisexplorer). Pous-Tio really is a player who can step up her game on this surface and who also knows to handle basicaly any situation thanks to many years on the tour and also playing top oponents already. On clay I really do not see Pous-Tio the underdog here. Min. odd @1.95 Laura Pous-Tio Ml @2.06 (Pinnacle) 1/10 Pous-Tio loses 2:6, 6:7 -1 |

He is a player who is really solid from the baseline, opponents for sure do not like playing him especially on slow clay surfaces like this one here in Barcelona. Samper catched some form last week and won three matches at an ITF event only 1 hour away from here where he should normaly play the semifinal today but I think he will skip the semifinal and instead try to win this match here. His opponent today will be Marsel Ilhan: Ilhan did not play on clay since July last year. He played well on the challenger tour however I simply do not think that he really puts some focus on this tournament here in Barcelona as next week will be an ATP event in Istanbul which should be more important. Especially if you did not play on clay for such a long time I think Samper is an opponent you really do not want to face. Bourgue is on a 11/7 run this season with a coupl really solid wins against Cachin, Estrella, Riba-Madrid, Souza and Carballes Baena however we have to modify them a little bit: Cachin is player a really bad season as well as Riba-Madrid. He won his first round match against Hamou here in Marrakech really solid with good stats. His opponent today will be Maximo Gonzalez. Gonzalez is a longterm challenger player already 32 years old and extremly experienced on clay. Last season he had huge injury problems as well as at the start of this season. However since the tournament in Sao Paulo I really see some progress for Gonzalez winning against Volandri, Carballes and having a really really close battle with Munoz. He won his first round match in streight sets against Granollers. I have to take this bet here even if the h2h is 1-1 and the results recently look quite equal: Gonzalez is much more experienced in any part of the game. He has won several challenger tournament and already qualified for a lot of ATP events while Bourgue never qualified for an ATP event in his life so far. If both player play their best tennis Gonzalez will win this match, after great stats yesterday especially on his own serve I have no choice then picking him at these odds. However his performances here in Indian Wells have always been extremly good: Last year he made it through the qualifiying and won against Gasquet here before losing in the third round against Gilles Simon. He won his first round match against Eysseric in two streight sets showing slight problems at the beginning of the match but got better and better as the match went on and finally won in streight sets with solid stats. His opponent today will be Andrey Rublev. Rublev won his first challenger title only three days on hardcourt indoor in france where he won against Mathieu in the final. Rublev played 3x three set matches there and won 5-1 tiebreaks which was the reason for his success. He won after a 20 hour flight against weak Devvarman yesterday in a really taff three set match. Today I have to take a shot on Berrer in this spot: He has to defend a solid amount of points here in IW and likes this tournament, has good thoughts about it. Rublev had probably no time to recover however Devvarman is simply a weak player who does not even have challenger level at the moment. Today facing a much more challenging player who is able of playing extremly aggressive, taff tennis from the baseline, who has a good serve and who is really able of enjoying himself on the court. This match yesterday was clearly not good for Rublev as it was really long. I still do not think that he is recoverd from the trip and the jetlag.
