Bourn*** not sure why I typed Braun

Pirates are the better team overall and IMO are actually at least slightly better at every facet of the game. I also like Wandy better than Marcum. And what really pushed this over the top for me is that Pedro Alvarez hit a bomb yesterday and he is the streakiest hitter alive. I expect the Pirates offense to wake up a bit and will rely on Wandy to get this game to the bullpen.
Cleveland's offense is firing on all cylinders and they really are a much better lineup than they are given credit for. Kipnis is going to prove that he might be the best 2nd baseman in the game over the next few years (yes, he might outdue Cano) and I also like Chisenhall. They also get Braun back at the top of that lineup and I trust that they can Scherzer. The Rays are giving a few of their starters an off day and the Padres have been on fire. I do feel this game is much more of a toss up than others would believe and I love the value on it. The Padres have won 11 of 14 and are a very small ball, fast team which translates well to turf. I like the Padres pen better and will trust that Volquez can keep things going. Also the Padres are good at manufacturing runs and hitting together. Cobb has been given up a lot of hits in games this year, but finds ways to escape danger. I'll trust in the Padres here and took the great value. Best of luck guys, I'll probably add in my later plays later today

Record (5-7)
Today's Card ** Cardinals ML ** ** U7.5 Oak/Tam ** ** U7.5 Chc/Mil ** ** Tigers RL ** I will be the first to admit that my card is damn near identical to that of Donnie Baseball's. I was already on the Cards and Tigers plays, but after seeing him on the two Unders I looked into them and like them as well. BOL guys.

Red Sox covered easy for me. STL/PIT over looked had a great start until being postponed. And well the Angels pitching was just putrid. Here are today's games.
4/17/2013 ** Houston ML (+165)** ** St. Louis ML (-112)** ** Rays ML (-115)** ** Phillies ML (+122)** ** Under 6.5 SD/LAD** A big card for me, but I like these games today. The Astros are more so a great value play than a play I feel ultimately confident in, but to me the reward is way worth the risk here. BOL guys |

BOL Yeah I gotcha. Basically means the "sharp(s)" are on it big. Not a bad play on there part then because I do believe that Milwaukee is a live (hitters) park, and Zito is a fly ball pitcher. With how good he has been of late though, how well the Giants have been hitting and rallying, and how awful that Brewers bullpen has been....I would not feel comfortable taking the Brewers. BOL to you as well man

I have been wondering this same thing...especially since I am a Giants fan. Looking onto baseballreference.com, a few of the Brewers players have really good history against Zito, one of those guys being Braun. But that was all back like 3-5 seasons ago when Zito was doing awful, Zito did a little better the past couple seasons. So my only guess could be that Zito has bad numbers career wise, plus the Giants usually struggle the first time they see a guy which this is the first time they will see Peralta.
For the value of the bet though I think I might still take it. I really feel like Vegas is almost gambling here |

I have been away from Covers for a bit, well gambling all together. Once NFL is over with I have a couple months of hibernating until the MLB comes around. Thus far I had been doing pretty good up until yesterday when I tried to take a gamble on the Astros in the first 5 innings and for trusting in Billingsley and the Dodgers which I hate so much. But anyways, looking to get back on the right track and will start posting up my picks in here. Hopefully after a week or two you will all see me at the point where you'll care to follow, if not I'll be staying away from the golf course for awhile. **Red Sox ML (-107)** Favorite Play **STL/PIT O8.5** **Angels RL (+125)** BOL to all. I more than likely will not add picks after my original posts, but if you guys would like to ask me on other games or even on the ones I'm taking then I'll try to get back to you.

3-0-2 on the day as posted.
Was happy that I rejumped on Washington at -2 this morning. Also had a few other plays throughout the day and overall finally back on track. Ill do this again next week for the fact that posting my picks benefits myself as it helps to fully think out a game when you type out a reason defending your picks. I will try to out due the great Cowherd |

Redskins -3 (vs. Ravens)
The Ravens have been a terrible team on the road this season and honestly have benefited from a pretty weak schedule. They have not had an impressive victory since week 3 when they beat the Patriots by 1. In the past 4 games the have played the Ben-less Steelers twice splitting those games, beat the Chargers by 3, beating up on the lowly Raiders, and struggling to defeat the Browns. The Redskins on the other hand are clicking and have been able to run extremely efficiently, and even with a banged up Suggs playign this week, the Ravens have not been the same team against the run as they have been in years past. This game will come down to the Ravens having to pass on the Redskins in bad weather conditions and most importantly on the road, where Flacco has been awful all year long. Redskins 31-20 Carolina +3.5 (vs. Atlanta) Another game where I feel like a road team comes in being overvalued because of a good record which results from having an easy schedule thus far. All year long Atlanta has been playing close games and been able to pull it out in the end. In fact, the Falcons have done quite well with this for the past few season, however I feel the team is still a bit fraudulent as proven every year in the postseason. On the other hand, I believe Carolina has played much better than their record shows, even though they did struggle in KC last week. I think the Panthers keep this one close enough to at least win cover by the hook, and can also see them winning this game outright. Panthers 27-23 Vikings +3 (vs. Chicago) A bit of a theme is starting to occur as I pick yet another home team that is deemed by the public as anything but superior to their traveling foe. But in this game I see the biggest difference as a Vikings team much improved from last year. And while they did not impress in their first matchup in Chicago, I expect this one to be different as Adrian Peterson should be given the ball from the get go and Minnesota cannot and should not get away from going to him. AP shot the Vikings in the foot with an early fumble in the last matchup and then the Vikings had to play catch up after making the mistake of putting the game on Ponder's shoulders to early. But still in that game the Bears struggled to have any type of a run game, while Peterson ran quite well. I will go with the team that proved they can run it, especially when the Bears have showed signs of regression and are also without Urlacher and Jennings for this one. Vikings 20-16 Jets -3 (@ Jacksonville) While I actually wish that Sanchez was not starting in this one, the Jets are still playing the Jaguars....and the Jaguars are completely dismantled with injuries. I will admit I may actually end up staying away from this one for the sheer fact that I hate the idea of betting on the Jets, but this seems like a great time to take them. The Jaguars have been terrible on the road and tomorrow I just do not see any offensive of production coming from them. I also believe that Henne will try forcing too many things to happen and that the Jets will have the far better ground game, both will lead to the Jets dominated the field position game which should play vital in this one. Jets 24-13 Lions +7 (@ Green Bay) The Lions know how to make games close, they just do not know how to win them. I would give that to the fact they really struggle to close games out with any sort of a running attack at all, and even more so they're secondary play has not allowed them to stop teams from getting back into games. But in this game I love to take the points even though they are traveling to Green Bay for the sheer fact that the Packers will yet again be bombarded by injuries. Tomorrow could be a crazy day with the NFC North as both the Bears and Packers could possibly fall to 8-5, and the Vikings could climb a game out of the lead at 7-6. The Lions in this scenario, or any scenario for that matter, are out of it, but unfortunately for the Vikings and Bears I see the Packers being in sole possession of first place after tomorrow. Packers 27-24 Leans: Bengals -3.5 49ers -11 (may wait to see if I can get a better line at the half, Dolphins do not matchup well at all, especially @SF on a week where SF is looking for redemption) |

It is a catch 22 If a 7 year police veteran can shoot himself, how about a 12 year old who is home alone? I used this article because it just happened but this happens everyday, it is so common it is not even news. Again, up to you but you should have your eyes open. For protection, your safety would be better with a dog, security system, living in a good neighborhood etc... Cars are dangerous too, there is no doubt about it. but the value of a car for transportation and earning a living for outweigh the risk. It is a risk reward model. You brought up the Constitution and how it protects our right to bear arms. Do you know why the founders put that right to bear arms in there? It was so we could have the ability to protect ourselves through militia in case we were ever to fact tyranny as they did with England. Go ahead and tell yourself guns do not serve as protection, but we can find plenty of stories where guns have saved lives. Call it a risk, reward model if you will, but I am sure those who have kept their lives due to owning a gun for safety are happy with its reward.
And this naive ignorance that people like Bob Costas has really bothers me. To actually believe that banning guns would get rid of them is borderline retarded. If anything it would only make crime worse as the scarcity of guns would drive people to only kill over them for the illegal gun trade it would create. Look at the crime that stopped once Prohibition was ended. Look at the crime we have over drug trade right now. Marijuana is illegal correct? How hard is it to get a hold if you really want it? Man people scare me..........and they don't even need a gun to do so |

How many times in the 50's did a football player kill his wife then himself? How many times in the 1800's were there school shootings? Hell, it was easier to get a gun a hundred years ago then it is today, yet the last twenty to thirty years is where we see all of the shootings. Javon Belcher could have stabbed his wife and then jumped off a building. If you want to kill someone you will find a way. How many shots were fired on 9/11? Zero. Oklahoma City? Zero. Did we blame airplanes and vans on those days or did we blame the people responsible? Great post my friend

Not usually one to gripe, but first I get screwed by the Steelers being taken out of it....thanks Bovada......and then the Browns lessen it to a 2 Team Parlay by letting the Raiders march down the field, the Raiders choose not to kick the FG on 4th down when they need two scores anyways, and then on the last play of the game the Browns let them get the TD. Instead of even, I made a tiny dent......complaining over now

Wish me some luck here guys as I take a chance to get even, it'd be extremely lucky
4 Team Parlay Charger -.5 1H Charger/Bengals U24 1H Browns -3 Steelers +7.5 (for some reason this one was removed from parlay by the book and it's now a 3 teamer) Because the Steelers was moved out for no real reason, I'll need to hit the 3 teamer and make the rest back tonight....probably would just call it good and try to make a little back and take the hit on the rest Give me some clovers my friends |
