I currently have a bet on the Astros to win WS, cost was $1,700 to win $2,600. Is the smart move to take Nationals -115 to win WS and bet $1,950 on them. That way if Nats win I breakeven and if Astros win I make $650. This is my first time betting on futures and I'm just not sure how to play this - thanks! I had a separate thread which everyone was very helpful on and told me to wait after game 3 and pray Astros won, thankfully they did! Thanks, Pete |

Thanks all for convincing me not to do something stupid! Really appreciated the feedback on this forum. I think if I bet 2,130 on Nats to win series now at -125, I'd either break even if Nats win or win $470 if Astros win. Wondering if that's the way to go now. Thanks! |

How does this make sense? Nats win game 3 and they only need to win one more. You can't bet them the next 4 games. That 200 wager won't cover the 1700 series wager. The only way would be to bet enough to win 1700 on the Nats in game 4. If they lose game 4 then you're down even more. Astros need a win for a feasible hedge. I think Vinnie is onto something. If Nationals win Game 3 and go up 3-0, theoretically I can do the following: 1) Bet $1,000 on Game 4 Nats and if they win series I only lose $700, if they lose.. 2) Bet $2,000 on Game 5 Nats and if they win series i only lose $700, if they lose.. 3) Bet $4,000 on Game 6 Nats and if they win series I only lose $700, if they lose 4) I'm screwed lol

Vinnie: so if Nats win game 3, you'd bet Nats game 4,5,6? How much would you bet each game in order to hedge? Could you give an example? Thanks |

I bet $1700 to win $2600 on the Astros to win the WS while they were in the ALCS. I thought this would be a cake walk against Nats so I didn't hedge the bet and now I'm freaking out. Nationals are now -286 to win the series. How can I hedge to make sure I don't lose money? Do I wait until Nationals have 3 wins then bet on the next Nationals game?
Thanks, Pete
