The top 8 market has tightened heaps in the last few years.

I got $4.50 for the Knights in 2008.

They ran 9th

 

Now the Sharks are the last line @ $3.00

Yep these markets are a joke,Bulldogs were $3.50 to make the top 8 last year



Roosters around $2.50 to make the 8?
Raiders around $2.75 to make the 8



Both should be 4/1 +

Exactly. I had them Dogs at $3.50 last year.

The books just seem gutless now.

No, no, you misunderstand. Of all the straight bets I make this season, 85% of those will be totals. The rest of those straight bets will be ML and spreads and a smaller percentage of ML 2 team parlays.



* part way through the league season, I also tack on ML baseball games with 1-2 ML league games.

Read closer. The 85% figure has to do with the percentage of totals I will play compared to all my straight betting, not a strike rate.

Having seen Michael Searle's work at the Titans at very close quarters for a couple of years I am convinced he is the prototype CEO that the NRL needs, NOW. 

Todd Greenberg the Bulldogs CEO is another who appears to have a very good handle on everything associated with running a successful organisation.

These are the sort of people that Rugby League in Australia needs at the decision making helm imo.
