Kick Melbourne out of the comp. Fuck it. They will never garner the interest of more than a few thousand diehards down there.
Melbourne have been spoon-fed their whole existence, given special dispensation the whole way, and then turn around and get done in perhaps the biggest rort in the comp's history.
The eastern seaboard is big enough to support the game, it has for 100 years.
Fuck off Melbourne
Let them have the fumble ball, NRL were kidding themselves if they thought they could expand in that market where the Melbournians are so one eyed about one sport.

as a Melbournian & a part-time attendee of storm home games this is a
massively disappointing. The amount of time & money (gulp) that has
been outlayed building up good will is potentially now going to put
this organisation back 5-8years in my opinion. Granted we have a never-ending love affair with AFL, however there is still plenty of interest in the Storm's
performances. Our avg crowd is around 12k,which is comparable to the likes of cronulla, roosters, manly, raiders etc...it makes commercial interest to have a franchise down here, same way the AFL expanded into the northern states. The dispensations provided to the Sydney Swans & Brisbane Lions have bordered on the ridiculous whilst leaving some of the Melbourne based clubs wallowing in financial uncertainity. The AFL have forced their sport down the necks of the northern states and they still couldnt give two shits for the most part. I agree the Melbournians are very one eyed when it comes to sports but compared to our cousins up north there is no difference...its nothing more then ego baiting
Gallop must have had some idea about all this mess, the whole thing smells very sinister...what a shame

Yeah, I hope everything comes out, top to bottom.
I wouldn't hold my breath though.
I understand your point on the expansion situation, it is the same with all codes. I just think they should focus on the heartland - which they neglect

lol at Craig Bellamy during his media statement today.
The guy made it sound like he and his players and the club were the hard done by victims in all this
"We will stick together fight this ...... We are a proud club that ......."
I wonder how many of his players share those sentiments now that the last four years of their footballing lives now stand for nought because their employer fcuked it all up for them ?!
Give us a break Bellamy with your "we must go to war now" bullshit. Even if, and I don't believe for a second this is true, he did know nothing about what was going on with these illegal player payments, why the fcuk would he now feel as though he owes the Melbourne Storm anything ?
Infact the very fact that he's now booming from the rooftops about wanting to lead this emotional but ultimately meaningless backs to the wall fightback makes me think he is as guilty as anyone in this saga. Because if he was totally innocent and this truly was a shock I think he'd be completely and utterly disgusted. Disgusted that the mob he's poured years of effort and expertise and everything else that goes with being a first grade coach into has suddenly ripped the rug from underneath him.
