I am very proud that USA has advanced, but I dont here anybody including ESPN talking about how Dempsy ran into the goalie right before Donavan scored. I know I will here alot of excuses like they owe us and the ball was already out, but you touch the golie and its a foul.

Not being biased or saying they owe us one, but no way in hell that is a foul. I played goalie at a high level in college and I can promise you something like that will never be called.

ya i also played goalie at a pretty high level when i was a junior, and that is not a foul. its a foul if you touch the goalie while he has a hand on the ball, thats why you see refs call a foul when the goalie and another player jump for the same ball (goalie will always touch it first because of his outstretched arms). so once the ball came out of his hands it wasnt a foul, unless of course dempsey went out of his way to attack him

I dont expect anybody to agree with me, but dempsy running into him effects the play. Im not saying the golie gets up and saves it but it effects the play.

I played for 18 years since the age of 4 and through college. I have watched soccer for over 30 years. I know the game. But that is beside the point. That was not a foul as it was in the regular course of the play.
And you can go ahead and leave America whenever you want. Algeria is nice this time of year.

C'mon. Rewatch it. Dempsey was running full speed on the play, kicked it, saved by the goalkeeper who is already on the ground, then if anything the goalkeeper trips Dempsey. There is absolutely zero wrong with the play that Dempsey made there, besides actually just not finishing off the goal in the first place.

I too have played soccer since I could walk and all the way through College. I just watched this play 6 times and there was no US foul on the Algerian goalie. Dempsey was going for the 50/50 ball and tripped over the goalie's feet. Now if he would have slide into the keeper and affected to chance to move, then yes it would be a foul.

Yes, if he slide into the keeper now, especially spikes first, then yes, you gotta call a foul on Dempsey and protect the keeper in that situation. Good point tmpeus.

If you think that was a foul, you've never played the game on a high level before. I guess the other explanation could be you're Algerian, but I'm guessing you're not.

The goalie dove to make the save and dempsey ran right over him trying to make a play on the ball......goalie made the original save and rebound came to donovan. By no means did Dempsey impede the goalie to try and make the second save.

Wiskey does this make me un-American by voicing what I think could have been called a foul. I thought thats what America stood for, freedom of speech. I was mad the whole game because they missed so many goals, Im glad Donavon made the goal I can still remember seeing him play in San Jose in his earlier years. I didnt expect anybody to agree with me and its fine, I knew I would get nothing but negative responses. Ibra you said it he ran over the goalie.

There's nothing wrong with thinking a call could have gone in the favor of the U.S....
But suggesting that was a foul (which it was clearly not) and trying to argue it as much as you are, leads me to believe you are actually just hating on the US team... no other way to really justify your rant.
Because that was not even remotely close to a foul, now that I have looked at it again. Dempsey was trying to score, the goallie came out to tackle him... the contact was instigated far more by the goallie than by Dempsey...
And that is not even debatable, so how are you supposedly a former soccer player trying to make this claim?

WEither way a foul is subjective. it was not called therefore it was fair play. Dempsey was not offside on the first goal either but they called it. Ghana for the US my home and Germany for England my home country i m happy!

You are all right!! If it wasnt called than it wasnt a foul. WC_FIELDS Im arguing my point not hating on the USA. I dont know what replay you saw but I saw the golie on the floor after a save and Dempsy ran into him. Everybody keeps saying how much experience they have in soccer, what does that mean? Does it make you all experts? I have my opinion on the play and you have yours, and you are right because it wasnt called. Just like Luis Fabianos goal against Ivory Coast wasnt hand ball twice because it wasnt called.
