Serious Streak Survivor Strategies

That was a bad beat last night on the K.C.-Minn. Over. The teams combined for 5 runs in the 9th inning to take the Total Over 10. That bad beat ended ChizzyD's streak and took my money with it. 

Let's apologize for that 9th inning meltdown last night. Let's go with the S.F. Giants for your streaks and let's get some excitement going on here! 

Now that was a nice apology I gave you guys yesterday. I hope you were able to either to up your streaks or make some money on the Giants yesterday. Of course it wasn't without drama as the Giants blew a 4 run lead, and the game went to 14 innings. But hey a win is a win so we will take it.

It's really not about the money although winning money is always nice, I believe it's about 3 things. The camaraderie of being a Gladiator. The fun that this Tournament brings and last but certainly not least the Trophy. Like I always say money will be spent but Trophies are forever. You have earned the recognition and respect of other top Cappers here on Covers because you have proven yourself to be the best among the best. A good strategy to use especially after huge blowouts like yesterday when Colorado plastered Arizona with a 19-2 beatdown is to take the Under the next day. I don't have any real data on this angle but it seems to happen quite often. Cleveland gave Cincinnati an almost identical beatdown 19-4, but those teams don't play each other today. So with that being said I suggest a strong play on the Arizona-Colorado Under 11 today. Both pitchers are also good. I'm taking the Under for my W2!

BRACKSON LEADS THE CHARGE

Brackson sets the early pace in the Battle Forum by scoring 452 points. Brackson went 6-2. It was a solid day for the All-Time Streak leader. The Rookie DDG9 went 3-0 in his first taste of the Battle Forum. DDG9 scored 383 points and is currently in 2nd place. Battle Forum Vet Thedeakon is in 3rd Place with 361 points. Another Rookie Centralflaguy rounds out the top Gladiators on Day one. Centralflaguy scored 291 points by going 4-1. 

We have some notables falling down on Day one. Crushalot who normally gets off to a slow start outdid himself by going winless 0-6. Crush is -686 already.  Former Champ Upset City also went winless going 0-3 with -343 points. Remember it's only Day one and the 1st Round is a 14 day marathon. Also with the format for Battle Forum VI being so generous with 8 picks allowed no Gladiator is safe and no Gladiator will be out of it in the early going. 

DAY 3

CENTRALFLAGUY GOES BERSERK!

He may be a Battle Forum Rookie but CentralFlaGuy is kicking tail like a veteran Gladiator. CFG went 6-0 capping a perfect day with a 600 point gain. CFG has exploded his lead over 2nd Place from 82 to 482 points. Wow! Grambus kept up his steady pace marking his 3rd straight day of going 3-1 and gaining 200 or more points each day. Grambus is Battle Forum vet now and knows how to set his pace in this 1st Round. Upset City continued his upward climb. He is now in 5th Place after his slow start. Masterone has now claimed the 8th spot after posting a 2-0 day and gaining 200 points. Masterone is the only Gladiator to make consecutive appearances in the Finals so he is always dangerous.

After Day 3 it's becoming apparent that you will need to do some serious winning to get in the top 8. Unlike the last couple of Battle Forums where the 8th spot had a losing record until the last few days, this year you will have to be on point if you want to make it to the next round.

MAEDA(LA) Has had 9/10 UNDER at home!!!

NOVA(Pitt) had 15/17 go UNDER at home!!!

PAXSON(Sea) sucks on SAT going 1-2 with a 6.20 ERA!!!

SNELL(TB) is 3-0 with a .89 ERA on SAT!!!

COL is 65-42 in the first 5 innings this year!!!!

OAK won 12/14 at home!!!!

DAY 9

DEGOSFINEST BUSTS OUT!

Degofinest had the 2nd best day in the Tournament so far. Degosfinest gained 731 points after going 6-2 yesterday. That's 2nd only to Crush's 835 point gain on Monday. Degosfinest made the jump all the way to 12th Place only 303 points behind DDG9 the 8th Place Gladiator. 

The field has really tightened up now as most of the Gladiators had good solid days. It's shaping up to be a great battle for the last Playoff spots. The only safe Gladiators at this point appear to be the frontrunners Centralflaguy and Upset City. CFG has 1685 points while Upset City has 1202 points. It would take a complete meltdown by them not to make it to the Quarterfinals. But the race for the 6-8 spots is wide open. Only 350 points separate 6th Place Atlanta from 11th Place Thedeakon. Thedeakon had a rough day yesterday losing 524 points, half of that on Cleveland. So now we enter Day 10 and the pressure is on as the race for the Playoffs spots is increasing. Which Gladiators will make it to the Quarterfinals and which ones will be on the outside looking in? We will learn more in the next couple of days that's for sure.

1ST ROUND FINAL TWO DAYS

The race for the final Playoff spots is intensifying as the 1st Round enters it's final 2 days. The 7th and 8th spots are up for grabs. Currently DDG9 has the 7th spot at 475 points. Phillyfan has the last spot at 325 points. But in the rearview mirror is a quartet of Gladiators. Atlanta leads the quartet at 243 points and is only 82 points behind Phillyfan. Manhands, Brackson and Teelocke are within striking range as well. Teelocke the only female Gladiator has gone from Last Place to 13th and she a good shot at stealing a spot in the Playoffs. 

Crushalot, Degosfinest and Smoothd all had made a move earlier in the week but have fallen back again. Smoothd had a exceptionally bad day yesterday going 2-6 and 644 points. Degosfinest also had a bad day going 2-6 and losing 405 points. Crush lost 257 points while going 2-3. Crush still has a decent shot of making the Top 8 while Degofinest and Smoothd would have to gain around 1000 points to have a shot. 

The last two days of this 1st Round will be exciting as the Battle intensifies and the Gladiators go all out in an effort to advance to the next stage.

1ST ROUND FINAL DAY

This may be the first Battle Forum where we don't have a mad battle for the final Playoff spots. Most of the drama will be between the Gladiators already in the Top 8 trying to avoid finishing 7th and 8th. Currently Atlanta and DDG9 hold the 7th and 8th spots with Atlanta having 831 points and DDG9 having 661 points respectively. Taylorsallstars has 902 points in the 5th spot and Sixbankz has 863 points in the 6th spot. Atlanta will make a push to get out of the 7th spot no doubt. Meanwhile Masterone has to make 3 picks today minimum. He currently has 990 points. So if he goes winless he could fall all the way down to the 8th spot or be out completely depending on what the few Gladiators on the outside looking in do today. 

That group of outsiders is led by Phillyfan sitting in the 9th spot at 300 points. Phillyfan could steal a spot but he will have to have an exceptional day and not lose more than 2 games to have a decent chance. He also has to wonder what DDG9 will do. Will he stand pat or gamble and make picks to avoid be overtaken? WBellhaven has done a nice job of making a late charge but the Gladiator who has always made it to the Quarterfinals will need lots of luck if he wants to continue that streak. WBellhaven has 111 and will need to go undefeated today and get some help to advance. Teelocke has also done a good job making a late charge but she is facing long odds of advancing. Teelocke has 43 points and will need some upsets to have even the smallest of chances of gaining a Top 8 spot. The rest of the field is pretty much eliminated and would need a miracle from the Virgin Mary to advance.

So today will have some definite drama and thanks to this new format the main drama will be avoiding the 7th and 8th spots. So get your popcorn ready. It's going to be a long day in the Battle Forum.
