Hey River, I'm pretty much just going by the rules of the system. I may look into some filters as the season progresses.....if you or anyone out there have any suggestions in terms of improvement, lets hear it! Lol....good luck today.

Hi Ken, From memory last time Dan was tracking this system he used a filter called the dog eff score. Have you considered applying this your plays?
I was using the Dog spreadsheet that Degan produced. No idea if that has been updated for 2016 but if someone has an updated copy of it, that would be great to share. I'd maybe even use that for a dog 2 team parlay system.
Stay disciplined and manage your bankroll

"I'd maybe even use that for a dog 2 team parlay system".
A parlay system , i might stay up tonight and update that sheet. I think I was probably 80% done early on in the season but was trying to automatically be able to fill in the # hits allowed columns so everything was automated. I will bring it up and have a look and send it to you DR to make sure it works properly

System plays now 1-9 for the week starting Monday. Is it time to abandon ship? Or does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
I'm new to the system and trying to tweak it a little for a little extra juice but from these last 3 days I have eliminated 3 games you picked for a few reasons:
Tuesday: No White Sox (playing Keuchel, top 40 pitcher last year)
Wednesday: No Royals (playing Price, top 40 pitcher last year)
Wednesday: No Reds (Indians scored 10+ the night before)
Obviously the more criteria you add in the harder and more time consuming it gets but I obviously am tracking top 40 pitchers last year and 10+ runs the night before.
All that being said, that would take your record to 1-6 (Still not good) and my record for the week isn't much better (2-12) so I think it's just a garbage week and I'm hoping it turns around

Hi Ken, A good way to determine how succesful an underdog system is, is to compare it to the overall performance of underdogs for the week. If dogs performed well, but your system performed poorly, then yes maybe it is time to abandon ship. On the other hand if dogs performed poorly and the system also performed poorly, the verdict would still be out, and will depend on your risk tolerance whether you wish to continue playing. Baseball is a long season with a lot of games and this can mean 3 things for a gambler. 1. There are loads of money making opportunities. 2. There will be a high degree of variance in results . 9-1 weeks but also 1-9 weeks. This is why any wagering for MLB should be statistically sound, and sufficent bankroll exists that you can afford to lose. 3. Following on from point 2 - there are lots of oppourtunites to lose your money. This one hurts the most.

...makes sense, wish i could get USAToday's sagarin to import properly so I don't have to look it up.
Thanks DR
jenjay I use the following links in my excel spreadsheet using web data import for a daily look at sagarin's ratings. When you set it up, say yes to all script errors; scroll down the page about halfway to the selection arrows on left margin for each league. Also if you want more info. BOL

I have used this system for many years. Some years are better than others. If you are looking for fast big bucks this is not for you. Play a constant amount always; don't rate your plays as one is better than another. It supplements other plays you make and can be a great boost to your overall bottom line but follow the rules and you should be OK. Many have tried to add filters and some work for awhile and many don't for long.
