Why Safarova, I see a letdown for Gava after the battle she put in and she was visibly showing some discomfort in the match. Having to travel a long distance on top of that I will see some nagging soreness and fatigue. Good spot for Safa.

Davis Doi 

this match is a toss up.    Doi defending champ of this tournament 2015,  but defending champs have a history gong out 1st round next year.   defending champ vs a Qualifier... 

Davis has been winning,  but vs high rankings.

Davis most recent win vs 178 player in world final rd of Qualifying.

0 Aces 5 double faults  won 56% first serve 41% 2nd  and saved 13 of 20 break points.   20 breaks points big number.    and she pulled it out 7 to 5 3rd set.     davis has been playing a lot of tennis straight since US open...    She has played / won 3 matches in 3 days with similar stats like that listed in qualifying.   

Doi... defending champ... last tournament beat a good Larson 1st round... then lost keys... she has been playing top tier competition wining losing alternating.   

Doi has had a mini break since lost to keys... hoping she comes in prepared and catches Davis tired not at top form maybe.    that inking Doi is trying to finish the year strong get her ranking high as possible for 2017

I can't seem to go far back enough to find Davis beating any1 in the top 100, Doi seems like an obvious pick, am I missing somehting?

Gavrilova is the female version of Kyrigos their both Australian if you call Gavrilova Australian.  She plays great but can lose her cool like Kyrigos
