Two live dogs I'm playing on Monday.
Young and Stan have faced each other only twice, both in 2011. Young beat Stan at the US Open in 5 sets and then a few weeks later Stan won in a tight 3 setter in China. Stan has yet to drop a set this Open, but hasn't been tested either. He was only 2 and 2 in hard court tournaments since Wimbledon. He had to retire in Canada against Kyrgios and then got smoked by Djokovic in the quarters at Cinci. Young has already played in 14 sets, compared to Stan's 9, and although Young may be a bit tired, he's been tested. He's already beaten two players in the top 22. The crowd will give Young a huge boost as this match will be on Arthur Ashe. I think Young is a very live dog and think he has more than a 16% chance to win the match, therefore I am betting Young at +500 to go to the Quarters.
I am also betting Anderson at +500 to beat Murray as I think he also has more than a 16% chance to win. The last 3 times they faced each other on hard court, Anderson won once and took a set in the other two matches. Anderson has been playing terrific tennis recently, having won his last 8 matches, while only dropping 2 sets in the process. In this Open, Anderson has taken on 3 up and coming young players, including his last match against 20 ranked Thiem, which he won in straights. Murray has actually had a tough draw considering his seed in this tournament. He had to go through Kyrgios, Mannarino, and Bellucci, all ranked in the top 37, but none ranked better than 30. Murray is in good form, but he has been through some tough matches. He has already dropped 3 sets in this tournament. He also has had a head cold, which could affect him if this match can go longer than expected. I'm hoping Anderson can start strong and put the pressure on Murray to overcome his head cold, which hopefully he won't.
