Yesterday 8 of the 16 seeded players lost their opening match. Their opponents were all either underdogs or pickems. There were the 4 I bet: Townsend, Fruhvirtova, Ruse & Baptiste. The others were Linette, Krueger, Osaka & Masarova.
This is why I said these two days are the days with the most value in a tournament with first round byes. You get to back a good player with at least one match under their belt at the venue against a player of a similar level playing their first match.
Adapting on the fly usually isn't an issue for elite players and the only top 10 seed that lost was Rybakina but that wasn't incredibly surprising. Players seeded in the top 10 were 4-1 while the rest of the seeded players were 4-7.
Will we see a similar day today??

That's a good question. It was clear to me that yesterday there were a number of dogs with a lot of value. I don't see that at first glance today. The players that fit that profile are either inconsistent or unproven (Stearns, Eala, Mboko, Pera, Kudermetova, Sherif). The last 2 days at least 4 underdogs won, but I don't see them that clearly today. Maybe Uchijima, Birrell?
The one that i like the most is probably Kessler (vs Noskova).

Eala and Blinkova were the big dogs. It's crazy how undervalued and profitable Shnaider was all last year and this year she's overvalued and fading her is highly profitable, I just haven't done it enough. She hasn't done anything good since firing her coach.
Navarro has been the queen of the 3rd set this year but somehow the player with the mental and physical endurance to take her down was Raducanu.
Still can't believe Kessler pulled off her win to even up the h2h with Noskova at 1-1. I'm thinking that is a hard hitting rivalry we'll see quite a bit in the coming years.

True. After looking so good in her last match it wouldn't surprise me if she continued with that form or instead she just completely lays an egg. Probably an equal probability of either happening.

MIAMI Moyuka Uchijima (+100) Victoria Mboko (+180) Peyton Stearns (+110) McCartney Kessler (+125) Probably not a 4-0 day but I can definitely see 3-1 and 2-2 still keeps us in the black.
Uchijima
Mboku
Stearns
Kessler
