The Last Dance 2021

The Tennis season is coming to an end.

We have Vienna and St Petersburg this week and next week the season ends with Paris 1000 and Stockholm 250.

On the WTA tour we have Courmayeur and Cluj-Napaco this week and next month we have the finals and a 250 tournament in Vienna. 

For these last days, I'm looking at players in form and that have something to play for.

Kontaveit only needs 139 points to make the finals and she gets 180 to reach the final in Rumania. And the draw looks really easy for her, she has avoided all the best players, Halep, Cristian, Tomlijanovic, Raducanu and Kostyuk are all on the other side of the draw. 

I can't see anyone on her side of the draw to beat her in the form that she's in.

Because she only needs to reach the final to qualify for Dubai I don't think she will win here anymore, I think Halep will win the title and Anette will be happy with that.

For the men's it's very tight, Ruud, Hurkacz, Sinner, Norrie, Felix and Karatsev is fighting for 2 spots. 

Ruud and Sinner are both in form and Norrie and Felix are playing each other in the next round. It will all go down in Paris! 

Best form, Sinner, Ruud and Norrie are all 9-1 in their last 10 matches and Karatsev 8-2.

Another player in great form is Zhang in doubles, after she won US Open she won Ostrava and looking really good in Courmayeur this week.

We also have a lot to play for in the top 100, the top 104 players qualify for Australian Open, so keep an eye out on who's playing these lower-level tournaments 

My bets this week

Norrie, Ruud, Sinner and Karatsev all win tomorrow.

Halep to win in Rumania and Kontaveit to reach the final.

Zhang/Hozumi to win double in Italy

Otto to win his next two matches in Ismaning challenger (Otto is currently ranked 102 so he will need some points this week)

She needs 140 points to pass Ons Jabeur and finalist points would only give her 80 extra

 It's always 180 points to the finalist in all 250 tournaments. So she only needs to reach the final to qualify for the finals in Dubai. 

The finals are sold out as well, so the home crowd would like a Romanian to win, and what better start for this 1st-time event to have Halep as Champion

I just saw now on WTA's website, you're right Kontaveit needs to win!

I have a double with Clara and Kontaveit as winners this week, was going to cash out before the final if they both go that far, but now I'm sticking with it, a motivated Kontaveit should beat anyone in this field.

Otto and Cressly did win unfortunately Karatsev didn’t play well today. 

"The back got blocked and the pain is really big," Halep said in the on-court interview. "You cannot really bend much and you cannot move. But sometimes you are used to the pain, I had this before many times, and I just wanted to continue and finish this match. It's good that I won this match, I don't know how."

I'm getting some Karatsev/Rublev vibe of Karatsev Golubev.

I think they can do good here in Paris, I don't know why Karatsev and Rublev is not playing anymore, they are 8-1 together. Maybe the Russian Davids Cup captain want Rublev and Khachanov to play together. It's kind of strange.

Karatsev and Golubev is playing Evans and Skupski.

It feels that Evans has already checkout out this season, he is here to collect the $22k he gets for his first-round appearance. he is already out of the singles, and I think he will be back on the train to London Wednesday afternoon. 

Karatsev played really good with Rublev as we know, Golubev is in good form, reached the final last week in Saint Petersburg with Nys, and I think Karatsev is a much better double player than him.

Karatsev have played with some really bad players, that's why his record is only 12-10 this year, 8-1 with Rublev and 4-9 without, but then he played with Muzaev ranked 443, Lajovic 206, Donskoy 754 and Nedovyesov 75.

Now he plays with 28 ranked Golubev who also reached a grand slam final this year in here in Paris.

Evans and Skupski is 10-9 this year but the form is really bad, they lost 6 of their last 7 matches.

2.40 for Golubev and Karastev is good value
