I'm just surprised the narrative actually exists that the Sixers tanking failed. Tanking doesnt guarantee titles. In their case it did absolutely turn around their franchise around as they now have one of the clear best teams in the league with a couple franchise players. It's just odd to me ppl snear at what they did when doing it the "old way" produced 30 straight years of garbage teams outside of one big year with Iverson (who they also drafted #1 overall). Rant over. I guess you have to be from Philadelphia to understand they had a pile of warm piss before they even started tanking.

ummm no...76ers are not one of the best teams in the league, and they will not dominate for the next decade....Embiid is going to bail at the first chance he gets...and Simmons is not a franchise player...a guy who can't shoot? i'll pass on a guy like him every time...and coach Brown is a liability, always has been, always will be.
What exactly has Philly ever done to warrant being considered a legit contender? they've created a lot of buzz, but buzz doesn't win basketball games come late May/early June.
This is not a rant because it's simply the truth.
Back to tennis now...no need to get involved in the nba soap opera atleast for a few more months

No one said theyre gonna "dominate". The Sixers lost in 7 games on a buzzer beater on the road to the NBA champions. Hell are you talking about? Simmons and Embiid are still babies. Embiid already signed an extension, he's locked up 4 more years. If you understand anything about basketball you would comprehend Simmons is a ++ player in every category besides shooting. Floor generalship, passing, rebounding, defending, elite in every category. Ya know things that arent OBVIOUS to the lazy eye. He impacts winning without even taking a shot outside the paint. Love how ppl are writing the book on his career 2 yrs into playing NBA basketball. Jimmy Butler was a bum his first 2 yrs. Giannis couldnt shoot a lick his first 2 yrs. Players evolve. The Sixers are the co-favorites in the East this yr and a top 5 betting choice to win the title. But I guess you know better than the oddsmakers? Once again, their best players pre-tanking were Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner. They were going NOWHERE. No man's land is the worst place to be in the NBA. You wanna be all the way good or all the way bad drafting high every year. Tired of reading this nonsense about a failing process. They sucked before tanking. Now they have a real chance to win. You sound like a hater. Go spin those lazy narratives to someone who doesnt know any better. Are you a Bucks guy? Since you're a Packers guy? Just wondering. Would explain your stupid opinion here.

oddsmakers also had the Lakers as the fav too at one point this summer...it's all a guess.
happy you praise Simmons so much, good luck with that - will he end up on the Suns, Grizzlies, or Knicks of the worlds once the process blows up in pieces...you think Embiid's extention means anything in this day and age? star players like him have all the power and the toilet paper his contract is written all holds no weight...once he comes to realize he's busting his ass off for a loser coach and incompetent GM, he will look to join his own dream team elsewhere.
calling me a Bucks fan tells me you don't do your research.
it's all good my friend, you are a post game commentator slash overall big picture see all bet none type of covers member...just be the best you can be at what you do best.
...cough....Europro would be like...cough...square much?
cough
Good luck with your -235 Nadal future...really...would be nice to finally see you get a win under your belt

Big whoop... Process finally "worked" after 5 or 6 tries... And I'm saying worked because you atleast have a shot at winning now, still don't think you guys win a title in the next 5 years. Drafting Okafor, Fultz, Michael Carter Williams, trading Holiday for Noel when you could've easily had Oladipo or McCullom... Yeah Congrats you have an above average team after a decade of being the juice towel of the NBA!

You never told me who your team is. I'll take your non-answer is an explanation for your bias.

It's only taken this long because Embiid missed his entire rookie season to injury and Simmons missed his entire rookie season for the same thing (which was a blessing because they never get Embiid in the first place if he isnt hurt going into the draft). So it got pushed back 2 full years. FYI if they drafted Oladipo or McCollum they wouldve never been bad enough to get Simmons and trust me, the Sixers arent trading Simmons for those guys. They are better "scorers" for sure but dont impact other parts of an NBA game in nearly the same manner. Being bad intentionally for a few yrs is about giving yourself as many cracks as possible at getting super high picks. You arent gonna hit on all of them. Its about having as many swings as the pinata as possible bc you only need to hit on 1-2 of them to turn it all around. I love this argument from the naysayers who talked crap on the process while it was ongoing and keep moving the goalposts as the Sixers team gets better and better each year. "Yea well they shouldve taken this guy instead". Had they done that they dont suck badly enough to get Simmons. It all evens out.

why are you such a 76ers apologist? wonder how much you've lost betting on them all these years to be this numb to your fandom towards a bunch of scrubs being hyped up by the shams of the world like espn and other brainwashers.
my team are the champs

Not an apologist at all. Just have the acumen to understand where the franchise was before they took a detonator to it. They tried doing it "the right way" 30 straight years and failed miserably. The decision to outright tank was the only thing they've gotten right besides drafting Allen Iverson (non coincidentally, also #1 overall). I just cringe when I see so many ppl with the shortsighted opinion of actually dogging the process. It worked so well the LEAGUE CHANGED THE LOTTERY RULES TO DETER IT. You dont run to championships once you finally have a couple franchise cornerstones. Getting them is the hard part. These guys still need to gain experience.

So a team the Raptors required a lucky bounce to beat aren't contenders even though their best players aren't even in their prime yet? Not like the Raptors got lucky playing a Warriors team losing their top players left and right....

Just cause your salty Kawhi left after one year and apparently was asking for unrealistic things in contract talk proving he never had any intention of resigning doesn't mean our star player will do the same. What are you even basing Embiid wanting to leave off of? Your imagination?

Rich, aint it? Nevermind the fact that down 2-1 to get homecourt back the Raptors needed Embiid to be a walking corpse in Game 4 who couldnt play more than 34 mins bc he was sick as a dog and could barely move on the court. The Sixers lost that game by 5 and were -22 in Embiid's 14 mins off the court, +17 in his 34 mins on it. Do the math if he's able to actually play 40-42 mins. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good.

You do realize you're talking about the conference SEMI finals? Right? Defending this team so much who has yet to even make it to the weaker conferences finals. Lol. And I wasn't talking about drafting Oladipo, when they traded Holiday he was available for trade. And YES they would've still been that bad because if you paid attention to details you would know Oladipo has blossomed into a star only recently.

Hey pack, looks like your "greedy hedge" paid off.
What's your opinion andreescu v mertens. I know you took mertens for the hedge but im leaning towards her on the spread. Both seem to be playing great tennis but neither have really played any huge threats to make it this far. I just don't see it being two difficult for Mertens to win a set and cover the spread here. Thoughts?

Yes they made it to the second round a game away from the conference finals. They lost to the eventual champions. The young players gained more playoff experience. So it's crazy to think the young players will get better as they continue to work on their games and play together? It is foolish not to call them a contender. The way you guys are talking about them it is if they are a team of old veterans past their prime who are on the decline...
