Sources close to IGN are reporting that Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has nearly succeeded in his effort to amend a Port Securities bill with prohibitive Internet gambling legislation. Frist, R-Tenn., has reportedly added provisions introduced by Rep. Jim Leach, R-Iowa, which target U.S.-based banks, credit card companies and other Internet payment systems, prohibiting them from making payments to online gambling companies. As of this afternoon, signatures are being collected on the bill. The amended Port Securities bill need only receive the signature of the President to be enacted.

If I use NETELLER (which I do), I should be fine yet I would assume since NETELLER is a third party based in Canada, not the USA.

FROM THE PPA PRESIDENT: This is going to our members ASAP The U.S. Congress is Trying to Ban Online Poker TODAY!!! THIS IS NOT A TEST -- Call Your Senator Now U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is attaching the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act to a bill that is expected to be approved by the Congress early this evening. PLEASE call your Senators today and tell them that they should oppose the Internet gambling bill being part of Port Security legislation. If the Port Security bill passes, with the Internet gambling language included, your ability to enjoy poker online will be at serious risk. Each member of the Poker Players Alliance has two Senators which are listed below. They need to hear from you RIGHT NOW! Let them know that you care about your rights to play poker. Please Call!!! Tell your Senators to oppose attaching Internet gambling to Port Security! Yes, instead of spending more tax dollars to catch terrorists, by means of collecting intelligence, hiring more agents, collecting better information, ect... These Republican assholes have nothing better to do than worry about what some average Joe does in his own bedroom, in the privacy of his own home. Then these Republicans say, "Well these unregulated offshore gambling establishments could be connected with organized crime, terrorism, ect..." which is just more Republican lies and propaganda to feed to all the dimwits who believe all of the Republican lies and propaganda and then vote for them. Here's an idea for the Republican assholes that run this country. If they legalize and regulate gambling to be more widespread, then average American citizens will not have to use offline, unregulated gambling establishments. Instead, if legalized, Americans would log on to Las Vegas casinos, place wagers, pay taxes, ect... The tax revenue to the US government would go up, they would have more resources to upgrade intelligence, ect... and really find the real terrorists, before they harm more American citizens.

The first rep. to speak after they came back from voting on the Homeland Security bill said they will be discussing the Port Security Bill around 9 and they will be voting on it around midnight. Those were only estimates though, he was trying to be as vague as possible.

Republican Leaders Reach Port Security Conference Deal ...

"A major maritime security bill will head to the House floor
tonight with a last-minute provision that would crack down on the $12 billion online gambling industry but without other controversial additions, such as court security measures and protections for phone companies that cooperate with government wiretapping, House Homeland Security Chairman King told CongressDaily today. King said the text of the conference report is done and will be brought to the House floor tonight for a vote. House and Senate Republican leaders were trying earlier today to attach last-minute measures to the bill. The only one that survived was from Senate Majority Leader Frist that would crack down on Internet gambling, King said."

these republicians dont want gambling legal for one major reason and that is if it was legal then all the money would go directly to the government in the form of taxes, instead of directly into their pockets, which they get right now from the huge kickbacks they are getting from all the indian casinos in this country who want this bill passed, so more money could come their way.  All that unregulated indian casino money is in the pockets of these corrupt fuckin nogood bible toting hyprocrites.
If they are going to ban internet gambling then i say ban every fuckin form of gambling in this country.
Casinos, lotteries, bingo, horse racing, etc etc, get rid of it all, but dont pick and choose which type of gambling i can do.  Amazing how the only forms of gambling they want to stay legal are the ones the people have no chance of winning.
Lotteries bring big bucks for each state and the indian casino bring big bucks for  each politician.
Our country needs a major kick ass revolt, to get rid of all these corrupt assholes once and for all.

This is very bad news and it does look bad.

But this bill is only about financial transactions and puts the responsibility on the banks and processors.

It has nothing to do with you becoming a criminal.

The media and the Govt will report in vague terms about how they made offshore gaming illegal. What they did was make it illegal for a bank or processor to fund gambling operations.

Go read the bill when it passes, or go read HR4411 as it stands today.

Let's see, I could've legally invested all of my money in Enron, Worldcom, K-Mart, etc... and lost all of my life savings. I can smoke cigarettes with my kids in the room until I get cancer. I can then drink vodka until I have alcohol poisoning and die, but I can not sit in the privacy of my own bed room and wager responsibly on a sporting event  I see on television because wagering is so harmful and illegal. These Republicans must all be voted out before it is too late. I will surely vote in November, and I hope that everyone else votes as well.

One step at a time is how you outlaw any freedom. If the Republicans are re-elected in November, then they will then take further steps to outlaw freedoms for the average American citizen. This is just the first step to see what kind of a reaction they will receive for this action that is being taken against the freedoms of average tax paying American citizens.
