Did you ask your boss to possibly report to NJ Unemployment that your job position was cancelled and therefore you were laid off instead of quitting where you are sol? If your boss is that cool you could even piece him off a bit on the deal if he agrees.
As far as the IRS goes, next year you are going to have to file some kind of tax return. If you declare professional gambler/self-employed better keep a daily log.Miles driven, bets won/lost and also back yourself up picking up clean losing tickets for that day to minimize your income.Keep them all in weekly envelope.
Bottom line is don't F with the IRS.I cashed a $3000 Trifecta ticket that I did not report as add income and 3 years later they caught up with it..So I owed the orig taxes +interest and got a nasty letter threatening to seize my bank account.3 friggin years later.
So do you have a place to stay locked in yet? Got a temp P.O.Box? Checked out NV DMV yet? Switching from NJ car insurance to NV and also transferring Title if there is a lien on your car?
Just a head's up man.Thinking of all the garbage it takes to leave NJ..24 years today.
