Two plays going today. One locked in last night.


76ers @ Raptors: Pick Raptors -4

First I want to say that I watched the full game last night of Nets/76ers and the 76ers just looked pathetic, especially in the second half. Jrue Holliday was the only 76er that could score consistently last night and the rest of the players just did not look good. Evan Turner is a good shooter but needs to assert himself much more. 76ers continue their long, horrid road trip (yes they played at home last night but are going back on the road)... I saw one play last night where a 76er player (forget who) just gave up on a play. Ball obviously when off him and slowly went out of bounds, he gave no effort to win the ball back. I expect the 76ers to come into Canada being quite dispirited and I expect the Raptors to hand them a loss. Second game in two days for the 76ers, I expect them to come out flat (or if they come out with lots of energy, I expect them to lose that energy and cool off in second half)


Mavericks @ Clippers: Pick Over 201

Here is one where both teams got yesterday off. Well rested. Dallas lost a tough one to Utah at a very tough place to play. Clippers are coming off two decisive wins, scoring 100+ in each vs two very suspect Ds. While the Mavs may want to run lots of half court through Dirk, I expect the intensity of this game to be very high. CP3 and lob city will get their. The key here to me is a young Darren Collison. I see him comparing himself to CP3 and wanting to show off his speed in this game. I expect him to push it and get his. Dirk struggled a little vs a lengthy Jazz squad shooting only 7-14 but still reaching 20 points. I expect him to drop 30. Hopefully OJ Mayo has a good game because that indeed might just be the deciding factor. If the Mavs can keep this close, I see it going way over. Even if the Clips blow out the Mavs I could see this creeping over the 201 mark.

And i like the over! clips are just at fire on home combined with a high scoring mavs team seems right on!

That is quite OK Teaser78. You too can post your PLAYS or discuss the plays people post. Pluralism has always been helpful throughout the history of a mankind. So why not here? It is your choice as anyone else's who to tail or who's pick to take into the consideration. I know you mean good and I appreciate your time and effort commenting - but if policing is needed - and it's not as long as everyone conducts himself/herself in a civil way - I'm always here. congrats on your thread Mavin, I commend you for the atmosphere that you have created in here! I have been around covers for about 6 months and was always afraid to start posting on this site because there are a lot people who like to hate for no reason.I see that besides basketball you have been on nfl and a little college football also.Would you interested in branching out to hockey also?

greengiant - I believe he posted somewhere in this thread, if you take the time to read it, that he doesn't start betting hockey until halfway through the season. Correct me if I'm wrong Mavin. I have read this entire thread but its been a few days since I recall seeing that particular post.

I second that. I think I joined in Covers in 2007 but left to join a forum that didn't seem to have a so many pseudo haters,who I perceived to be juveniles feigning to be tough guy,big time, gamblers. I still love that other forum but your threads are a pleasure to read and you do have the general atmosphere under control. Maybe that stems from the respect people have for the uniquely civil tone you established or perhaps it is $elf interest. I don't bet basketball often,but that doesn't stop me from enjoying every page of this thread. Hope you keep on doing what you are doing. It's tremendously refreshingly.

I hear you're a one hell of a player on that market and would love to read your insights in regard of that. Is OptionRally ring the bell? Milwaukee/ Chicago over 189.5

This line has gone up 2.5 pts since this morning dispite 90% of bets on the under. Milwaukee played last night so they will not play with the defensive intensity they did in the second half of last nights suns game. That said, it looks like Boylan will let the bucks get out and run a little bit, pushing the ball, which I am sure B.jennings and m.ellis will love(and excell at in my opinion)

   Thank you Keithprochaska, I got to about new years with the thread and skipped over to the last couple of days.

Well with 48 games it won't take too long to get to the half way point lol!I'll be starting before that, I have been following hockey religiously for 25 years.

Tor -4.5

Sixers played 8 of their last 9 on the road and this will be 9 of 10 before coming home for a 4 game homestand. Think this is a letdown spot for them as they have to be tired after a long road swing like that and they played last night at home. I like this spot for the raptors at home and well rested and think they win by double digits.

Mavin- would love to hear your thoughts on my two picks before I lock them in, as I think both lines (bulls/bucks over 189.5 from previous post) will only go up as the day goes on.

Hawks -3.5 1 unit
O Clippers 1h 101.5 1 unit
U Rockets 1h 101 .5 units
Clippers -5/Bucks 10.5 1 unit
O Nuggets 197.5/ O Warriors 182.5 1 unit

Hawks because they have a 3 game losing streak, going 7-2 ATS on 0 day rest against a bad home team like the Cavs with a 3-12 record ATS at home and without Varejao, Gibson and maybe Miles.
Alao Hawks are 6-0 ATS last 6 times in Cleveland

O Clippers 1h i like the personal matches in this game and both are really good scoring teams, the line at 101 seems to low for me.

Rockets under 1h, the last games between theese 2 teams finished with the under i believe last 6 games.
Hornets are an under team at home.

Bucks because the new coach and the Bulls have a very bad ATS record at home.
Clippers just because i dont believe Dallas can leep the pace with the Clips on the road.

Nuggets ocer, Orlando is running a lot lately, 8 overs in a row, dont believe this streak will end in Denver.
Warrior over, las 5 games at GS 4-1 over, Memphis playing great on the road, putting 125 points in Sac.

Everyone seems to be on the raptors but the more i think about it the more i wanna take philly.. 
The line has not moved much if at all, and it seems like the public is pretty even on both maybe slightly favoring toronto
Toronto is not far from philly and philly is a pretty young team overall. 
Im sure they are going to come hard after losing to nj plus a few other losses recently.
I think phillys biggest weakness is rebounding the ball, but toronto is pretty weak in that department themselves, and lets not forget how many injuries they r dealing with themselves.
Also philly has lost 4 in a row against the spread and are 15-21 ats overall, I dont see this trend continuing.

Cleveland - Atlanta 
Well I don't think that the reasoning of the Hawks being after 3 straight losses will prevent them from not covering tonight is a viable one. I remember someone saying yesterday that they won't lose 3 in a row. Being 6-0 ATS in Cleveland is also not a factor in my opinion as it does not guarantee 7-0. Other reasons as the absence of the Cavs players have more weight in my eyes. But the line has been moving opposite of the assumption favoring the hawks to cover and since I don't trust the Hawks since the times they were exchanging ridiculous home away blows with the Sixers couple a years ago - I will stay away from that game ATS wise. The totals line is more attractive for me as I expect the teams to score at ease without really playing a tough defense. No need to. none of this teams really cares about this game and it is not pivotal or something, so why not enjoy the show? Leaning Over 193 here but not heavily/

I might as well chime in since the vibe is so friendly. I like Boston to cover The miserable Suns are a tired road team with a 2 and 15 road record to prove it. With all due respect I believe Boston,going for 4 straight at home,with Rondo returning,will cover the 9 points. I posted it because know one has mentioned Boston-9 and that is a very lonely feeling.

Toronto - Sixers
Well, if you look at the Raptors games recently - there is one clear trend - they lose to an NBA giants and get all their anger against below .500% teams. As the Sixers. I believe the books had a different idea about yesterday's game in Philly thinking the Sixers will be able to show some kind of a resistance to the Nets at home, but I think that the Sixers need a root canal. They're infected from inside. They need a major reorganization and until such will happen - the mediocre cast and the coaching staff will have to succumb more losses and await the likes of Washington and Charlotte to show some muscle. And then too I have a doubt they will. Philly professional sports need a cleaning from inside. I lean Toronto here without an opinion on the totals.
