Charlotte - Utah
Utah, like Toronto, has been tough on below .500% teams. Charlotte is winning when someone lets them win like the Pistons and the Bulls (both were given presents by Miami to pass them to the Kittens). Well, the Jazz were not given any presents lately and you can mark my words - if they lose tonight in Charlotte - you can pound their ML against the Heat on January 14. I lean the Jazz here although it's a bit strange the books doctored the original line of -4.5 to -4 only to be back at -4.5 because of the public pounding the Jazz bet. I have no opinion on Totals here.

Any way you look at this game it sounds like they are going to have a tea party in Boston. The Suns are incapable of carrying the effort for 60 minutes while the Celtics have proven quite the opposite. Rondo being back is making to feel that he would want to remind everyone that the Celtics winning without him MSG was a freak accident. Leaning Boston -9 here. The line on the totals rising strengthens that notion as I don't think that is because of Dragic's abilities to score or Scola and Gortat preparing to beat the Celtics on the board. I think that the oppsite is the truth as finally the Celtics will be playing against the team that is worse than them in rebounding. The public is on Under and I'm staying away from the totals here.

warriors are a great after a loss this season
i dont know if that trend will continue, the line moved -2 to -1.
i am little surprised here but memphis is also a good club.
tough game.

Hello Mavin, seeing what you've been doing here for the past couple of weeks and how you handle yourself I have made a decision to be on board of the Mavin train and ride it till the end.  Expecting the good and bad.  I will have a starting bankroll of $2000 and $100 units.  I am currently unemployed as I am fully focused on sportsbetting and investing every good chance that I get and I feel with you it will be a great oportunity.  Cheers mate and BOL

First time post for basketball:

I have two plays that i played today:

Bucs +5.5:line has been going back and forth from 6 to 5.5 all day but there seems to be a lot of play on chicago, from what i see on covers public is on the bulls at a 65% clip, I would have expected the line to go higher than 6 but seems that vegas likes the line around where it is even though the public is all over chicago.Bulls have been horrible at home against the spread, especially against over .500 teams, the bucs on the other hand have been covering against the spread on the road(9-6) and against over .500 teams(4-3) as well.Sometimes coaching change can light a spark for a few games at least as well.

Hornets(or Pelicans) +2.5:Reverse line movement: line started out at new orleans +3.5 and the line has gone down to +2.5 with the majority of the public on houston(covers has it at 70% in favor of houston).New orleans has won the last 2 at home against the rockets and are 6-1 against the spread within their division!

have to add that the total for these 2 games have gone up significantly during the day, maybe plays on over, but i have always wondered if i should go with the movement even after it has gone up so much?

Leaving for the day today, have a keeper league hockey pool draft to get ready for tonight.Good luck to everyone on this thread!

if you bet for living without job, it wont work.
depending on gambling to make a living will never work.
because you will chase the money to pay the bills and lot of other things, you will be automaically forced to make unwanted plays and rush to boost the bankroll, bills always coming, we always need the damn money!

The only plays I will be making are Mavins and 1unit will be $100.  The only way sportsbetting can be made profitable is money management, which is the key.  I am not trying to pay my bills with with a few hundred bucks, it is just not possible.  My main goal with Mavin is to increase my bankroll and eventually increase the size of my units.

Please don't tell Mavin that you are depending on him to provide for yourself. If you want to that's your decision, but as I can tell Mavin is a good and decent person who cares about the people that converse with him through this thread on a daily basis. He doesn't need the added pressure of thinking....boy I sure hope all these picks are good just so nbafanatic2012 can keep his lights on and eat. There is no reason to tell everyone in here that indeed you will be relying on him 100% of the way, because that is not why he started this thread. You can choose to do whatever you like, but like I said its not fair to Mavin, or anyone else tailing and learning from him to have any additional pressure placed on his decisions. My point is not to speak for Mavin, but for the rest of us on this thread who appreciate what he is doing for all of us. We wouldn't want the added pressure of a bad streak (therefore your lights being turned off) to drive him away from what has become an enlightening experience in sports betting. Thanks

Do you guys not read.  I DONT have a job but that does not mean I dont hustle.  I am a full time investor and am always looking for good oportunities to grow my money and thats it.  Enough said

I will get to that game too buddy. But I also see those late line movements against the hosts and wondering if that game is worth risking money on. May be it's for better as playing the Grizs is a bit over reaching in my opinion. We'll see how the popularity of that game betting wise combined with line movements will play out.

Agreed keithpro, nobody makes anybody pull the trigger on his or her bets but themselves! Just make sure you have a good bank and can afford to get in the game before you do, and no sniveling after losses!

Hey Mavin. Keep up the good work man, Really respect your opinion and the time you put into this thread especially your break down in the begining. I know this is an NBA thread but wanted to see what your leans were for this weekends playoffs card. Looking to get the early lines.

Also any thoughts on the Hornets game. They look like a nice live dog right now at +120 ML or the +2.5 Harden was dinged up towards the end of that Lakers games last night and he could be off his game a bit tonight.

Well, I think the Fakers are doing a great job in their attempt to get rid of D'Antoni asap. Kobe wants Phil Jackson back and he will get him back. If I was a book I would have such bet as when PJ will be back. The fact is no one can handle such bunch of egos besides the Zen master who already coached MJ (and Kobe, Shack) so no ones ego will be hurt by doing what he will say to do. Till then - the Fakers are going only one way - down. The Spurs just paid their dues to the Hornets before most probably the Rockets will do. I have previously leaned SA -13.5 but today I remembered the game SA played in Miami (I mentioned that yesterday too in regard of the Lakers being undermanned) without it's stars and kept the game competitive. So SA has a chance to pay back for that debt incurred upon them by Miami. Little too twisted? May be. But I will stay away from this game altogether and might only join at the halftime. Totals as well.

This should be a great game. like a preseason games when the NBA teams compete against the European ones. Because  Minnesota is playing a European style of Basketball and there is no team playing more NBA than the Thunder (the Heat and the Spurs). The Thunder - one of the best first half teams in the last season is doing quite an opposite this season and 7 points is very attractive number to back the T'Wolves in a first half. That is my lean for this game as I might also join the betting at the halftime. Totals are very fishy for this game and although the natural reaction is Over with those two - I might sit aside on that for the reason that the first big bet on that game was under that drove a line half a point down before the public drove it 2 points over the released line

My first pick is going to be an Under in this game. Looking at the records of the Hornets teaches us one thing - they hardly go over 200 points. It only happened once in the last 10 games. In the recent game between those two the totals were 196 points. True, that was without Gordon and Davis - but I think Davis's contribution on defense at least equals that on offense and in order for the Hornets to come towards the end of the game with a chance for Eric Gordon to close the game - they'd need to keep the score low. I'm also leaning here for a Hornets ML win for the same reasons as everyone must have noticed. NO -2.5 against the best ATS team?

Man you sound like the ultimate degenerate. Mavins a great capper but its still dumb to throw money on a game without having your own opinion on it.
