    Chapter1 Continued

For live betting in today's Vegas market the sheet and Covers.Com have become one and intertwined with the books for deception.  The set up and make up of the sheet are there to cause confusion, choas, doubt, and second guessing within the bettors mind.  Covers part in the sheet is make bettors feel good about their bets with stats that are displayed for all to see.  The faux stats make capping easy, fast, and accesiable for bettors.  If you were on the edge the sheet will give you final confimation for your play when the stats back up your perception of the game.  The sheet must be payed attention too in great detail cause this were the sales all start. I give the highest priority to the opener on the sheet.  For me this is the Alpha and what the linesmaker is trying to sell with your first impession of a line.  First impessions are everything in a sale as we all know.  Understand that the information on the sheet is true but mis-leading and it is our job as bettors to decipher this information and turn it around to our advantage to make the money and not be decieved by the book.  Think about your perceptions of teams then go look up the actual basic offensive and defensive stats and you will be amazed at how far off your percrtions are to the actual stats,  I know I was and still amazed everytime I do it for all sports thoughtout the seson........Tired and done for the night................

    Chapter 1 Continued:

In closing and review I would like to remind you of a few key lessons in this chapter.  The sheet is a necessary evil and part of the game.  The opener of a lined game is what we most cherish about the sheet.  Get over the names on the sheet.  These names on the sheet will be used against you!  Do you understand?  Never forgot that the sheet is there to make the casino money.  I cannot stress  this aspect enough.  When you lose focus about this, it is then that the light buld will go off one day and you realize that you been had.  Look for value where there is no value.

We cap games to gamble on them.  Capping comes from the term handicapper which was the term used for linesmakers, people of knowledge, predicting the outcome of a horse race.  The term capper is the equal of handicapper but referred to in sports generally.  Sports cappers is a very loose term these days and should be looked at with great caution.  We cap games to find an edge, angle, stat, record, or anything that will make us comfortable in our bet.  Anybody that know's me and has been around me knows that I think I will lose every bet I ever make.  Going in to our approach of capping a game we already have in our minds a pre-concieved notion of what we like and what we want to find for final confiramtion to make ma bet which we think will win. All fine and dandy but the problem is there are always three sides to every story.  My side, your side, and the truth.  I can always cap a game to make both sides look equally apppealing. I can always show stats , record, info, angles, and edges for both sides of a game.  So what are we really capping and what is the truth in numbers and what are the important numbers or is all just a gamble..............back in a bit have to something.............

    Chapter 2 Continued:

What is gambling?  I guess a gambler is someone trying to predict what is going to happen in a uncertian event with money on the line in hopes of making more money.  So if your capping or gambling your trying to predict the outcome of a event in hopes of making money.  I guess capper sounds a lot more informative like you have a edge and is acceptable in most circles while the term gambler is a down in the gutter cliche which is associated with being a loser in most circles.  They both mean the same thing in my book.  Capping a event is gambling on a event. Why else would one go through all the time and effort to find a edge in hopes of making money.  All our capping skills in the world only gives us a reason to gamble.  We think we can predict the outcome of a event with our cappiing skills but the true gamblers instincts and skills are much more important in the real world of winning a event because the true gambler does not see the jaded stats, info ,records, or angles that mean nothing in the event being played today for the most part.  When a capper predicts the winner of a event it was due to his great skill, knowledge,  but when they lose a event it was due to bad luck.......back in a bit have to do something.....

Cappers in the back of their minds think they will win and never lose, and when they do win it is exagerated in their their minds to keep them comming back, who has not done that.  Cappers keep comming back for the chase  This is why they will always be on the perception side.  Gamblers are a differant breed than cappers.  Gamblers in the back of their minds know that they will lose in the end and just want to stay in action as long as possible till they go down.  Gamblers keep comming back for the action.  This is why they will always be on the perception side also.  In review both cappers and gamblers are one in the same and never forget that while placing wagers on sporting events it is a gamble no matter how good of a capper you are in your own mind.

I've really enjoyed reading the start of the book, rickster hope you continue until it's finished.

I also took the kids, (grand kids 5 and 3) to a show, Madagascar 3.  Both kids really enjoyed it and even gramps got quite a few laughs.  It's nice getting away from reality once and awhile, just wish I could expand the movie selections, but can't because of their ages.  Might just have to check out Avengers by myself.  Hope all your wagers are winners.

                                BOL and keep the faith.

    Added Chapers:

    Chapter  14  Human Nature

    Chapter  15  Sides  VS  Totals

    Chapter  16  Halftime

Today in mind I decided that the chapters do not have to be these long drawn out gone with the wind affair's.  The book can be more like a how to or steps kinda thing or what ever you want to call it. I will start chapter 3 tomorrow and see if any body wants me to write on the next scheduled order or a special request by the Nation.

D-Back/Ranger   OVER   9.5...............the 2 lowest ERA pitchers on the sheet........Overal 6.3 ERA combined and L5 4.5 combined.  These are stellar under numbers with recent form in a very under caliber mode. The problem is a opening total of 10 with these pitchers numbers and bet down to 9.5.................ok I'll bite again on a very tough bet and number.  Hope my read is right.....

As always best of  to alllllllll...............

    Chapter 3

                     Casino Objective   VS   Your Objective

The objective of the casino is to have you give them as much money as you can by what ever means necessary in gambling ventures for as little in return as they can get away with.  In return I mean free play whatever's, comps, food rooms, or if your a special player whatever your delight.  Selling you your dreams for present desires is what it is all about.  Deception is one of the many powerfull tools for the casino's winning objective.  The Casino's are the one's with the most risk.  Think about it.  When the public loves big fav's or sharps or whatever bettors think and love someone has to book all the action and is at risk of losing a lot of money.  That someone is the casino.   Now if by chance you do win have you ever thought about how diffucult it is to get out the door with the money. ..........next page comming

    Chapter 3 Continued:

When you go to cash your ticket, and before the casino gives you real money which is the last thing they want to do the writer will ask you would you like any more bets or action.  Now if you did not want action it is now put in your head for thought and board gazing.  You would be suprised how many people make bets and get out with less than they bargined for.  This is one of the many battle plans that the casino has in it's arsenel to take your money.  Now that you have your money at the window you have to walk past your favorite table game, machine, bar, food outlet, poker room or what ever.  What a mine field to walk through to get out the door with money. But the casino's objective did not end when you thought you got out the door with the money,  or with you net bettors that got a big fat deposit in your accout............more comming......................

Now we get to the one of the casino's biggest objective's, that is to keep you comming back.  A sports book director who was a very good friend and golf buddy of mine told me many years ago as I was walking out with my big win and big grin,  " See you tomorrow Rick".  It really did not dawn on me the gravity of that statement till years later.  I still go to the book to this day.  As long as your are in action and keep comming back that is all the casino wants and has meet one of it's objective.  That is why EVEN WHEN YOU WIN YOU DON'T WIN for most gamblers.  See you tomorow follks................

    Chapter 3 Contined:

A snide remark by myself now and then, as I have a very jaded view of things.  What is your objective when you walk into a casino or go to make a bet.  Everybody's objective should be to take out a lot more money than they came in doors with.  If you walk into a casino for any other reason than this you are there for all the wrong reasons. The gamblers want to win or do they?  People win all the time and meet their objective but some reason most people do not adhere to their initinal objective.  What is enough and what is your balltle plan going in.  Remember the casino has a very well and thought out battle plan with the objective to take your money.  Did you set losing and winning limits?  Did you have a entrance and exit stragety for your battle?  Are you in for the long or short haul?  Everybody's objective is the the same walking in,  but how you exercise your objective is the key to winning....................................more comming taking a break..............    this writing shit is a  lot harder than imagined...........

Amazing that he was able to be so far ahead of the field, especially at that track  rickster.   Only two bets for me, and I'm almost embarrassed to say one was Tiger, at 7 /1. Awful chalky but I just had a good feeling about him going into the tournament.  Yes there's a lot of golf left, but like what he did with the ball yesterday.  I haven't missed a minute of the action yet, between live coverage and streaming. Dustin Johnson's my other horse, so at this point just hoping he makes the cut. A hundred on Tiger and half that on Johnson.
Keep up the good work on your writing and BOL on the tournament bet.
