Oddshark have their odds out for Futures and suprisingly, the Sparks are favs which I do NOT agree on with the loss of Toliver..

Sparks +180
Lynx +200
Mercury +300
Liberty +500
Mystics +600
Dream +800
Storm +1000
Sky +1600
Fever +1600
Sun +2500
Wings +4000
Stars +400

Lynx by far is my fav to win the league this season and those odds are decent. Don't be fooled by the Dream, they just lost Faulkner for the season with a knee injury over in Europe. They will be lucky now to make post-season. The only team I see with great value is the Storm at +1000 and that might be worth a 1 unit play or even half a unit. I need further info on Sue Bird's injury though before laying cash. Also, Washington at +600 is great value. As we have seen in the NBA, offense wins titles and once they get their pieces together, their offense will be amazing.

Forget them to win as the # is too small, but this tells me a nice story. A team that will be covering. 

Have to see but I like that the books respect them.

Three more pre-season games done.

EDD plays and the Mystics easily beat the Fever 87-67.

The Sun get a nice little win against the Sky and the Liberty take down the Sparks as well.

Training camps still going with a lot of rookies getting the cut so far. Will be interesting to see the final rosters for all teams. Not long to go now. I'm actually going to be in in Hawaii for the season start. Looking forward to getting away for a few week. Gotta continue with my season previews..

This is one massive roster, the majority of the girls below Sugar Rodgers will most likely not make the cut. Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe if any of you guys remember her, played for Canada in the recent Olympics and then came to Oz to play in the league down here and she had a great season. I really hope she makes the cut because she would be decent off the bench. Swords is a big loss but I think they have the bigs to carry her loss. Prince back for a full season is great. This team looks stacked and they will be impressive as usual. Love this team a lot and they are once again my fav's to win the East. 

Their first 10 games are favorable as well:

vs Wings
vs Mercury
vs Dream
vs Storm
@ Sun

An amazing 7 out of 10 games to start off a home is a great start to any season. They weren't the best team last season as favs at home though but that should change this season depending on the line. They will always have a chance to cover any game when you have Tina Charles. This girl is another MVP candidate and I felt hard done by last season when I had her at 10/1 odds to win the reg season MVP but unfortunately Nneka won that and I understand why. TC's stats were better but Nneka was just a beast with her crazy shooting percentages. As mentioned above, I expect big things from this team this year and they will  battle it out with the Mystics for East title. I see no other team in the East apart from Mystics and the Liberty they will be close to these teams. The other 4 teams have got bad injuries, massive personnel changes and coaching changes.

No wonder it jumped off the page.  I was wondering why?  I did like their draft because of the high amount of selections,, this year and the past has them on my radar.

I like this type of scheduling.  If they cover a lot of these that creates value against them moving forward.  They are absolutely horrible as home chalk ATS and until something changes I will play on them much if at all.

WNBA preseasonhad no idea it existed. may start looking into wnba tho, never done it before. BOL this year aussi!

Scales, unfortunately I didn't see this post mate,time zone difference reasons. I hope you got on the Storm, easy win there vs a Mercury team that won't be as good this season. I am not sure of these pre-season games as I don't know the line-ups which the coaches are using.

Agreed Spottie, Liberty laying chalk at home compared to road have been horrendous. But I think that changes this season. If they can get their home form up to the standards of Lynx they will be one of the most complete teams in the league. Their road form is great, they just need to make home court a fortress like Minny.

Hey all -- something that I haven't seen mentioned that should be kept in mind is that the Lynx will be playing their home games at the XCel Energy Center in St Paul this year (home of the NHL Wild) instead of Target Center, which is being renovated.  I'm not sure if this will have any effect on their home-court advantage or not. 

They have played in XCel before -- two playoff games were held there last year when there was a scheduling conflict with the Target Center. And those games actually drew bigger crowds than Target Center (of course, they were playoff games so that might have something to do with it). 

Just something to keep in mind when watching the first few Lynx home games this year.  They're playing in a new building, and they'll only be there for one season, so it will be interesting to see what kind of turnout they get and whether it will affect their home court advantage.

TAXMAN, how's things buddy? I am doing good mate. Actually leaving Oz next weekend to go to Hawaii so cannot wait to get away for a bit. Hope you are well my old friend

And this is why the WNBA forum is my fav on covers. Great info Washhead. I completely forgot about the arena change. The biggest thing for me is that the Lynx girls are well rested as I think by memory, only 1 of their players played overseas during the off-season. Might take a few games to get into the new arena but I don't think it will effect them too much.

Taking a look at opening day and liking the Storm as they open up against the champs on the road and an ESPN televised matchup.

Any thoughts on this matchup and what you think the line will be on this one?

Agreed. Sparks will most likely be around -7 IMHO for that game. Sue Bird is not 100% but that won't matter. I have no faith at all in this Sparks team missing Toliver. People don't rate her but if you have been following her, her replacement (Sims) in the first 2 pre-season games has shot 4-20 and that includes 0-5 from downtown. And this is the girl who is meant to replace Toliver who shot well over 40% last season and thats from downtown? Nneka and Parker will always be a beast of a combination but so will Loyd and Stewart in this upcoming season. If the line is right buddy, i will be on the Storm as well and opening night.

Scales, be careful. I know I do a lot of talking about how much I dislike the changes the Sparks have made but the Stars have just lost Plum for a few weeks and also Jefferson. Would be very careful if your betting. The Wings -3 against any team is a big worry and the Fever need some confidence moving forward. Risking line Scales. I wouldn't touch any of these pre-season games.

Well the pre-season games are winding down now and teams are making some big cuts. No real massive shocks with the cuts from the teams. Vicki Baugh was cut today after the Stars game. Stars are missing Plum and Jefferson for a few weeks to kick the season off so be careful when backing them. 

The Wings got a nice 80-75 win over the Fever thanks to a strong 2H and the Fever do not look good at all.

The Sparks tore apart the Stars but as mentioned above, nothing amazing and once again Sims was horrendous from 3 point land. She is meant to be the replacement for Toliver. Crazy. Im hoping we get a lot of high spreads on the Sparks this season because I don't believe they will cover too many of them especially if they cant shoot the 3 ball well.

Last season, Toliver went 81-191 from 3 point land which is an amazing 42.4%. The rest of the Sparks entire roster went 117-336 which is just 34.8% so she will be missed badly.. 

Looking forward to the opening night as well.

Starting off with the Liberty hosting the banged up Stars, Sparks hosting the Storm as they always do on opening night and then the Sun hosting the new look no Angel Atlanta. Will be interesting to see what the line is for that game.
