It’s a quick offseason for the PGA Tour with the action resuming at Silverado Resort and Spa for the first edition of the Procore Championship.

There’s a top-field field teeing it up this week, with Sahith Theegala, Wyndham Clark, Corey Conners, and Max Homa headlining the Procore Championships odds boards leading into the event. Here are our free golf picks for this week’s Procore Championship.

Best Procore Championship picks

Procore Championship outright picks

Pick to win: Maverick McNealy
+2,200 at bet365

The California native heads to Silverado in solid form and ranks 14th in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green and 10th in true strokes gained putting across his past three events, carding a T3-T45-T12 run during that stretch.

Maverick McNealy also finished solo second here in 2021 while gaining true strokes across the board, including ranking fifth from tee to green. Par-5 scoring is critical here and Mav ranked 16th on Tour last season in Par-5 birdie-or-better percentage.

As always, his putting is often his greatest strength, and he has a potential advantage on the field with his experience putting on California Poa greens.

Sleeper pick: Tom Hoge
+4,000 at DraftKings

This will be Tom Hoge's ninth career trip to Silverado and the wedge specialist had a career-best T12 finish a season ago. He ranked second on Tour in average distance on approach from 100-125 yards and first from 125-150 yards last season, and he impressively ranks sixth in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green and fourth on approach across his past 15 events, too.

Hoge is also a strong Par-5 scorer with ranks of 34th in scoring average and 39th in bridie-or-better percentage last season. I also value him pacing the PGA Tour with 60 sub-par rounds. The bet365 +120 odds for Hoge to finish Top 30 is also an outlier high price, with DraftKings and Caesars hanging a +110 number. It’s a good complementary bet to an outright ticket.

Procore Championship prop picks

Finishing position pick: Eric Cole Top 30
+120 at bet365

There's a lot to like about Eric Cole ahead of the Procore Championship, but it’s his consistency that first grabbed my attention. He’s played the weekend in eight consecutive events with three Top 10s and another Top-20 showing. Add ranking 19th in true strokes gained tee-to-green and 12th in true strokes gained in this field during the stretch, and Cole’s set for another solid week.

Of course, he also finished solo fourth in this event last year while pacing the field from tee to green and finished second on approach. Cole uncharacteristically struggled with the putter and lost true strokes on the greens. I’m not anticipating that to be the case this time around. A sprinkle on his +4,500 FanDuel odds to win outright is in play, too.

Matchup pick: Luke Clanton over Keith Mitchell
-111 at BetMGM

The No. 1 amateur in the world has played the weekend in five of six PGA Tour events with a runner-up finish and two more Top 10s. He ranks fourth in this field in true strokes gained tee to green and seventh in true strokes gained on approach during the stretch.

Keith Mitchell’s ball-striking numbers are excellent, but he’s also headed to Silverado for the first time since missing the cut in 2018. The veteran hasn’t played the weekend in three of his past six events, either. What’s particularly discouraging is his 114th rank in true strokes gained putting during the inconsistent stretch paired with his lack of experience on these surfaces.

Procore Championship first-round pick

Round 1 pick: J.J. Spaun Top 20
+250 at bet365

J.J. Spaun heads to Silverado in solid form and has a respectable track record in this event. He finished T11 last year while gaining true strokes across the board and also carded a T9 in the 2021 edition.

The 34-year-old American has gained true strokes in all five metrics across his past six events, including ranking fifth in true strokes gained on approach and ninth from tee to green. It’s translated into three Top 10s, another T23, and playing the weekend in all six tournaments.

It all adds up to him hitting the ground running in this watered-down field, and I also recommend targeting the +110 BetRivers odds for him to finish Top 30 for the tournament.
