The cut line at golf majors always draws plenty of attention from bettors and the U.S. Open is no exception.
Projected cut line update
The U.S. Open cut line for 2024 closed at +5.
There were 75 golfers at +5 or better at the end of play in Friday's second round. The late-in-the-day move from +4 to +5 was a great relief for world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who was in the clubhouse for several hours waiting for the cut to move to his number of +5.
The most electric highlight of cut day was provided by 2018 Champion Golfer of the Year Francesco Molinari. Sitting at +7, and teeing up for his final hole of Round 2, Molinari needed a hole-in-one on the Par 3 9th to get to +5. He did exactly that and survived to play the weekend at Pinehurst No. 2.
Some notables to miss the cut include Max Homa (+6), Tiger Woods (+7), Rickie Fowler (+8), Dustin Johnson (+9), Justin Thomas (+11), and Phil Mickelson (+15).
Projected cut odds
Prior to the tournament, oddsmakers set the cut line number at 3.5. The final cut line was +5, cashing for Over bettors.
