MGM Resorts International, owner of one of Nevada’s top sportsbooks, BetMGM, announced the launch of a new live dealer studio on the floor of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Key takeaways
- The Live Studio will be available at the MGM Grand Las Vegas
- MGM partnered with Playtech to launch the studio.
- The studio will only be available to online international players.
The studio, which has already been constructed, will only be available to players in specific international markets once it receives regulatory approval. It's the latest development in the ongoing partnership between MGM and Playtech, and should be live by the end of June.
”Pending regulatory approval, we are currently working to introduce the next phase of our live dealer product with plans to livestream new gaming experiences from our studio space located on MGM Grand’s casino floor in Las Vegas,” an MGM spokesperson said earlier this week.
Family Feud
Along with the traditional live casino game facility, the MGM Live studio will include a "Family Feud"-branded section, although it's not yet clear how that'll be integrated into the online or in-person gaming experience. MGM Resorts International gained iGaming rights to "Family Feud" at the start of the new year after BetMGM partnered with Fremantle to gain exclusive casino rights to fan-favorite shows "The Price is Right" and "Family Feud".
"This partnership unlocks various ways for BetMGM and Fremantle to collaborate and expand our brand," said Adam Greenblatt, Chief Executive Officer, BetMGM. "'Family Feud' and 'The Price is Right' are two of the most popular game shows in North America, and we look forward to bringing their fun and excitement to our online casino in various exciting ways."
Dual-cast service
MGM and Playtech previously collaborated to launch a dual-cast service. Last year, they worked together on a product where players could bet in-person and online at the baccarat and roulette tables of the MGM Grand and the Bellagio. However, the games were only available to international players.
The partners created a similar service for BetMGM players in New Jersey. Online gamblers can bet at live roulette tables inside the Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City. MGM Resorts, BetMGM's co-owner, operates the Borgata.
Live dealer casino gaming is provided from dedicated studios designed to reproduce the physical surroundings and atmosphere of a real-life casino. These studios are particularly popular in U.S. markets where online casino gaming is permitted, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey.
There are already three live dealer studios based in Atlantic City casinos, offering live online versions of craps, baccarat and blackjack to international and local players. If the new studio gets regulatory approval and is a success, it could lead to more live casino studios situated in real-life venues throughout Vegas. However, Nevada gambling rules mean only international players could access these studios.
